As-Salaamu ‘Alaikum Beloved and Beautiful Sisters!

Our Beloved Messenger, The Most Honorable Elijah Muhammad (May the Peace and the Blessings of Allah Forever Be Upon Him) vehemently stressed the importance of The So-Called Negroes DOING SOMETHING FOR SELF! We will never be considered as a free people, equal with the civilized societies of the earth, unless we qualify ourselves and do and have the same things those people have.

We must instill in our children the desire to DO SOMETHING FOR SELF, so they will not be like their parents – dependent upon the slavemaster for everything they need. The Honorable Elijah Muhammad (May the Peace and the Blessings of Allah forever be upon him) taught us in MESSAGE TO THE BLACKMAN IN AMERICA (page 39): “My people should get an education which will benefit their own people and not an education adding to the “storehouse” of their teacher.”

Our children must develop an entrepreneurial spirit and free themselves of the idea of getting an education just to get a high-paying job. They must be instructed to think in terms of The Black Nation as a whole. That is the only way we can build a Nation. If each person only thinks in terms of self, then we will not progress.

Many of our youth are captivated by sport and play. They want to grow up to be a rapper or an athlete or marry a rapper or athlete. If everyone is making music or playing sports, who is going to build our factories? Who is going to cultivate our farms? Who is going to make our shoes and clothes? If we don’t lead and guide our children to think in terms of careers that will be productive then we will forever be dependent on the devil (whiteman).

An excellent way to expose your children to the idea of becoming producers, as opposed to consumers, is to schedule a factory tour. So they can bear witness to productivity in action. Factory Tours USA has a listing of all of the corporations that offer public tours of their facilities. I have scheduled a tour for my family of NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory and “The Los Angeles Times” Newspaper. Those were the only two nearby that are conducive to building a Nation. The rest were wastes of time like beer and candy factories. When choosing a tour, make sure you keep Nation-Building in mind. The Possibilities Are Endless!

I visited one of my former Facebook friends’ page and someone had posted this on her wall. (What happened to that?) Anyway, it gave me such a good “vibe” seeing this video after so many years.

I am soooo disappointed in India Arie for bleaching her skin after making such positive uplifting music. And then denying it. It is really sad what the whiteman has done to The Blackwoman. I even find myself still suffering from the effects of white supremacy, even after converting to Islam over seven years ago.

Our Beloved Messenger (Peace Be Upon Him) taught us in his 1971 Saviour’s Day Lecture that the Lost and Now Found Members of The Aboriginal Black Nation in The Wilderness of North America need to be operated on. The devil is so deep in our psyche that he needs to be spiritually surgically removed.

I bear witness. I have been in The Nation of Islam over seven years, yet I felt happy when a devil “liked” one of my blog posts! I felt so embarrassed after I realized it. Thirty-five years of conditioning is hard to overcome. We need to be operated on.

***UPDATE***

I HEARD SISTER INDIA’S RESPONSE

She claimed to not have bleached her skin.

She said her skin looked bleached due to “fabulous lighting”

Why was the lighting so fabulous, Indie???

Because it made your skin look lighter?

As-Salaamu ‘Alaikum Beloved and Beautiful Sisters!

As the woman of the house, we are responsible for the maintenance of our family’s wardrobes. It is our duty to ensure our family members always have clean and pressed clothes to wear every day.

We are taught in THE LAW OF THE M. G. T. CLASS: “Girls and women must be taught how to please their husbands, by keeping herself and her home unsurpassed by others. Meet her husband with a smile. Please him with that he desire both cooking and laundering. Let no woman beat you in anything when it comes to intelligence.”

We should find joy and pleasure in doing our family’s laundry. Even as we are planning to do our family’s laundry, we should be filled with thoughts of gratitude and happiness over the fact that Allah has chosen us to be His People and that He Has Blessed us with the means to wear beautiful garments to cover our nakedness.

jgM2MBicYief4UwTbUNyqy9DOyw

Like everything, laundry should be done in The Name of Allah. Before we begin, we should say, “Bismillah” (In the Name of Allah) to ensure that as we go about our Divine Duty of Laundering, we are able to complete our tasks competently and efficiently. Also, so that we will be able to maintain our composure and patience if we are interrupted by our children or other matters that may arise.

Personally, I hand wash all of my family’s laundry. It is more economical and practical than going to the Laundrymat. I can do Laundry at my convenience and without having to lug a heavy sack full of dirty clothes out of the house. And I save about $40 per month.

Hand-washing is very relaxing and therapeutic; like kneading dough. I listen to The Messenger (Peace Be Upon Him) or play some good music, and as I submerge my hands in the soothing, warm and clean-scented water, rhythmically and purposefully “kneading” the clothes, I keep in mind that because of my noble work, I am going to be rewarded with fresh-smelling and sparkling clean garments for my family to wear.

Now, you may be wondering why I have a picture of “Ivory” soap on display…. Well, it is because Ivory is the soap that Our Beloved Messenger (Peace Be Upon Him) told us is “The Best Soap”. So that’s what I use to wash my family’s clothes. Yes, “Ivory” soap. No, they don’t make “Ivory” Laundry soap. I learned when I was living in a shelter that you can use any kind of soap for any kind of cleaning. I once saw a Sister use shampoo to wash her dishes! So, I use the “Ivory” bar soap to launder my clothes. I just put a couple bars into some hot water with a little washing soda and let the clothes soak for about ten-fifteen minutes. Then I wash them. It gets my clothes really clean.

Laundry detergent is extremely overpriced and full of toxins, so I started looking for “greener” alternatives a few months ago. I found plenty, but they were exorbitant to make and called for questionable ingredients (Borax). So, I decided to just save myself the time and effort and just threw the whole bar of soap in the tub. Now, I use a couple full bars and maybe a few that are too small for any other use, and I can truthfully say I am completely happy with the results.

HeinzWhiteVinegar1

After I wash each item, I put it in the sink, so that the soap residue still in the tub won’t get on the clean clothes. When I’ve finished washing the entire load, I drain the tub and refill it with cool water and about a cup of vinegar. Vinegar is a natural fabric softener, removes soap scum and brightens colors. It also prevents yellowing and static cling (if you use a dryer).

I don’t use a dryer. I hang the clothes on my back awning so they can dry in the sun. Undergarments I spread on the bed and turn on the ceiling fan. By the end of the day, usually sooner, everything is ready to be folded or ironed.

ft_hangvfold_l

Pre-ironing your family’s clothes makes so much more sense than ironing right before you’re ready to get dressed! You can take your time and do a thorough job. Just do it when you have time. If everything is already pressed, your family will have a selection of clothes to wear everyday. This makes everybody happy. 🙂

Dear Sisters, we should cultivate The Love of Doing Laundry. It was Divinely given to us as part of our responsibility of Keeping House. If you plan to do laundry well before you run out of clothes, you will not stress over anything. You can relish in the time you spend keeping up your family’s “image” and take pride in the fact that they look so good due to the love and effort you put into something as important, yet simple and easy as Doing the Laundry. Learn to Love it!

S (SCIENCE) T (TECHNOLOGY) E (ENGINEERING) M (MATHEMATICS)

As-Salaamu ‘Alaikum Beloved And Beautiful Sisters!

Science is probably THE most fascinating subject in the entire universe. TRUTHFULLY, it is the Universe! The study of Science makes an otherwise boring school day, fun and exciting! And through interesting and educational science experiments, makes it interactive.

Understanding and being able to communicate Science is a comprehensive method of measuring one’s knowledge; showing and proving that you possess the knowledge of how and why things work.

The Definitions of SCIENCE, According to Dictionary.com are:

  1. a branch of knowledge or study dealing with a body of facts or truths systematically arranged and showing the operation of general laws: the mathematical sciences.
  2. a systematic knowledge of the physical or material world gained through observation and experimentation.
  3. any of the branches of natural or physical science.
************************
The Honorable Elijah Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him) taught us in MESSAGE TO THE BLACKMAN IN AMERICA (page 41) that “Knowledge is the result of learning and is a force or energy that makes its bearer accomplish or overcome obstacles, barriers and resistance.”
According to Dictionary.com, that could also be the definition of Engineering:
1. the art or science of making practical application of the knowledge of pure sciences,
as physics or chemistry, as in the construction of engines, bridges, buildings, mines, ships, and chemical plants.
“At the proper time we will need to know all types of Engineering. We have to re-build for ourselves the type of Civilization that Allah demands us to accept. In words to say–we have to rebuild a Nation. Engineering is the first trade that will be in demand.” – Messenger Elijah Muhammad
SCIENCE, TECHNOLOGY, ENGINEERING and MATHEMATICS are elements of Knowledge, about which we should enthusiastically encourage our children to become passionate. These are the essential building blocks for building civilization. Our Beloved Messenger, The Most Honorable Elijah Muhammad (May the Peace and the Blessings of Allah forever be upon him) taught us that one must have knowledge of ENGINEERING AND MATHEMATICS, in particular, in order to build a civilization.

Instill in your children, a desire to Do Something For their own Black Self and Kind by educating them as to the importance of STEM subjects toward building our own Black Nation. This can be done in a number of different ways.

974481088

* Make your children KEENLY AWARE of the fact that SCIENCE, MATHEMATICS AND ENGINEERING ALL BEGAN WITH BLACK PEOPLE. THIS IS THE ONE THING THAT THE DEVIL DOES NOT WANT OUR CHILDREN TO KNOW. You must educate your children about the origins of these indispensable sciences, especially if your children attend the devil’s schools where they will be taught that white people discovered all of the sciences and mathematical breakthroughs and that Black people discovered nothing. This reinforces white-supremacist ideals and fosters an attitude of self-hate and indifference toward their own Black people. Educate your children as to the TRUE HISTORY of the whiteman, i.e. that when white people were living like beasts in the hills and cavesides of Europe, Black people were dwelling in highly advanced and rightly civilized societies in Arabia and Africa.

I found in my search for specifically BLACK centered Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics, a list of books documenting the fact that BLACK PEOPLE discovered all of these subjects. I am going to include the link so you can choose whichever books are interesting to you at this stage in your acquisition of KNOWLEDGE and share what you learn with your children.

* Create a nurturing environment of exploring STEM subjects in your home, where you can give your children a hands on experience in the wonders of SCIENCE. Let them take your old electronic devices apart, or anything with moving parts. Even if they don’t understand how it works, they might be able to reassemble it, becoming familiar with the different parts and how they all fit together. Plan and then visit Science Centers. Cultivate your child’s love of science-in-action by doing experiments with him. Here is an online resource for TONS of websites you can peruse to find simple science experiments you can try with your children. ALL CHILDREN LOVE SCIENCE EXPERIMENTS. Make Science easily accessible and routine. Surround your child with scientific images (Periodic Tables and Solar System posters, Constructive Toys and Games like Erector Sets, &c.) YOU have to envelop your child in STEM subjects. Make them available and approachable. It rests on your shoulders….

242986_1953445430271_2828693_o

Bring science and technology into perspective by pointing out its daily applications. Teach your children how science, technology, engineering, and mathematics have led to the establishment of most of the things we use in our everyday lives, such as running water, electricity, and transportation. Have your child imagine what life was like before we had these things. By explaining the history of technology, your child will begin to comprehend that technology is related to building and advancing civilization and makes our daily lives much more productive and enjoyable.

* Interest your children in watching television shows or videos that promote STEM subjects. “The Magic School Bus” is excellent for inadvertently teaching science to young children. (Note: If you click on the YouTube icon on the bottom right of the screen it will take you to the YouTube website where more “Magic School Bus” videos will appear.)

Also, “Bill Nye the Science Guy” teaches many different scientific concepts very engagingly.

The “Eyewitness” TV Series has some excellent videos about a range of different STEM subjects.

Disney also has a series of VERY INFORMATIVE AND ENTERTAINING engineering-based videos called “The Science of Disney Imagineering”. The Disney videos are exceptionally good, but quite expensive.

Fortunately, all of these videos can be found at your local library. (Note “The Magic School Bus” and “Eyewitness” began as book series, so you can also incorporate these into your child’s world of science and encourage your children to only read and explore non-fiction books.)

For older children, PBS has a series called “Design Squad Nation” which demonstrates to young people (pre-teens) that even at what they may consider a young age, they are perfectly capable of mastering complicated engineering projects. This program makes something that most young people don’t even understand (ENGINEERING), “do-able” and actually quite intriguing and definitely worth investigating. You can find it at DESIGN SQUAD NATION. Just click “Watch”.

ENCOURAGE AND PROMOTE INQUIRIES. If your child asks you something, with today’s technology, there is no reason for you to not be able to give him an informed and educated answer. Master the Science of Finding the Truth on the Internet. Rely on several sources and demonstrate to your children that every answer to every question is right at their fingertips. GOOGLE IT! This will feed your child’s natural curiosity, and you know what they say, “Curiosity is the Mother of Invention.” Or something like that….

(*I just GOOGLED it, it’s “NECESSITY is the MOTHER OF INVENTION”. But CURIOSITY has to be up there too. 🙂 )

In short, it is impossible to exhaust the resources available to you on the Internet when it comes to educating your children in STEM subjects. Here are a few more good sites.

Getting Rid Of Clutter….

As-Salaamu ‘Alaikum!

One of the things Our Saviour, Master Fard Muhammad, to Whom praise is due forever, promised us upon our submission to Him is A GOOD HOME. He Wants Us To Live In A GOOD HOME and the best way to ensure our home is a GOOD HOME is to keep it clean. It may not be spacious but it can and should be comfortable and, most importantly, clean.

In The Nation of Islam’s Muslim Girls’ Training and General Civilization Class (M. G. T. & G. C. C.), we are taught that the first step in cleaning and maintaining a clean home is to GET RID OF CLUTTER.

PROPER STEPS TO GET RID OF CLUTTER

* A good house keeper knows when it is time to throw a thing out.

* Keeping unnecessary items (old papers and magazines, clothes no one wears, old letters, cards, books, bills, toys, dishes, shoes etc.) causes clutter.

*  If items must be kept, they should be kept neatly and put away.

*  Each item should have a specific practical place. For example, toys can be kept in a toybox in the play area.

* Some things may need several homes: pencil holders should be placed in the kitchen, in the office, near the computer and near the phone.

* Wicker baskets are great “homes” for things. They can hold magazines in the den, pine cones in the bedroom, or combs, brushes and hair accessories in the bathroom. They are also decorative, look good in almost any home decor, and keep things very close to where they will be used.

* The more convenient it is to put something away, the less likely it is to end up as clutter.

* Teaching children (or other family members) to put things away can be accomplished by consistent modeling and insistence. Organizational skills can be taught in stages. Start teaching them from the cradle.

* Getting rid of clutter and learning new habits can happen over night. Start by not allowing new items (clutter items) to linger in your home. Flyers, newspapers, bulletins, school newsletters, letters and bills are good examples. Though not all incoming clutter is paper-based, probably over half of it is. Once read or dealt with, anything of paper origin should be filed or put in the garbage can.

* A lot of incoming clutter hangs around the house simply because it was not dealt with as soon as it arrived.

* One piece of invaluable advice is to make it a rule to never pick up a piece of paper twice. As much as possible, paper should only end up in your hands once. Often we read things and then put them somewhere to be put away later. Later, of course, the entire thing must be sorted out of a pile of other junk, and reread. If things are dealt with immediately (or, in the case of bills, filed away immediately), they don’t become clutter.

* Another thing that adds to disorganization and clutter in the home is that many people hang onto paper clutter (and other kinds of clutter as well) because they think they may need it down the road. All clutter, as soon as it has been dealt with, or has served its purpose, should be thrown out.

??????????????????????????

Schedule a day, that you will spend removing all of the clutter in your home. Arm yourself and your children with garbage bags, and the will to clean. Take a deep breath, and throw away all of the unnecessary items. ANYTHING that is NOT ABSOLUTELY NECESSARY for your family’s well-being should be thrown out. Ask yourself, “Do I need this?” “When was the last time I used/wore/needed this?” If the answer is “No” or “I can’t remember” then that particular item is definitely fodder for the trash can or The Salvation Army.

Plan to spend all day clearing your house of CLUTTER. That way you can do the most thorough job without time restraints. The larger the home or family, the more time it will take. You may even have to schedule multiple days to complete each room but don’t quit until the job is complete. And don’t get sidetracked and waste time reminiscing and getting all sentimental. Our Beloved Messenger (May the Peace and the Blessings of Allah Forever Be Upon Him) taught us that we should not hold onto items based on sentimental value.

* Also be aware, it is going to get messy, but we have to destroy before we can rebuild.

Take breaks periodically, and celebrate your accomplishments as they come! When you finish your bedroom, go out and buy some fresh flowers to enhance the beauty of your new clutter-free boudoir. When you finish the kitchen, make some homemade ice cream and enjoy it on your new clutter-free island.

7

Once you have gotten rid of all of the clutter, you must now make a conscious effort to actively apply the bullet points listed above, to maintain a clutter-free environment. Once a month, go through your junk drawer in the kitchen and throw out any items no longer of use. Clean out your file cabinet of all the warranties for the items you just threw away. You should also clean out your closets with the change of seasons. And set aside time every day for dusting. Dusting requires that you put away any items out of place. Doing this daily helps prevent clutter from building up.

Pretty soon, you will develop an internal radar that will alert you to items that are out of place, and you will instinctively and immediately pick them up and put them away. This way, your house will remain clean and you will never have to do a major “Clutter Removal” again. Allah U Akbar! (Allah Is The Greatest!)

DRINKING, JESUS AND MY PEOPLE

Many white people accuse the so-called Negroes, who are really members of the Holy Tribe of Shabazz, of being drunkards and thieves, and (wrongly) advise them to oppose Islam because it forbids Muslims to drink intoxicating drinks.

I would like to ask the accusers: Who makes the intoxicating drinks – the white Christians or the so-called Negroes? And doesn’t their (Christian) government legalize the sale and drinking of strong drinks? And did they (the devils) find that my people were thieves and drunkards in their Native Land, four hundred years ago, when they were kidnapped by John Hawkins and brought over here into slavery? And haven’t the white people been their master and teacher since? Then whatever my people (the so-called Negroes) are today, the devils (the white Christian race) made them that.

disinfect

As-Salaamu ‘Alaikum Beloved and Beautiful Housekeeping Sisters!!

Our Saviour, Allah, Master Fard Muhammad, To Whom Praise is Due Forever, promised us Money, A GOOD HOME and Friendship in All Walks of Life upon our submission to Him. We want to ensure that our GOOD HOME is free from as many chemicals and toxins as possible.

I have been doing a lot of research on the subject of natural disinfectants and have come up with nothing.

Many people claim lemon and vinegar are natural disinfectants, but there has been absolutely no scientific basis for these claims. I have searched.

Baking soda is a natural disinfectant but it is not strong enough to work in homes. According to Wikipedia:

“Common sodium bicarbonate (NaHCO3) has antifungal properties, and some antiviral and antibacterial properties, though those are too weak to be effective at a home environment.”

Benefect is the ONLY natural disinfectant I have been able to find that is actually EPA approved as a disinfectant; meaning it has been tested and approved to kill bacteria.
Benefect’s website lists thyme oil as the active ingredient.
I’ve seen some blogs on the antimicrobial properties of thyme oil and some homemade “disinfectants” made from thyme oil and fresh thyme. However, none of these homemade “disinfectants” have been scientifically tested and proven to kill germs.
I was considering trying out some of the homemade “disinfectants” made from thyme, but if they have not been proven to kill germs, then that is sort of defeating the purpose, right?
So, I looked up Disinfectants on Wikipedia and it listed bleach as the best household disinfectant.

“By far the most cost-effective home disinfectant is the commonly used chlorine bleach (a 5% solution of sodium hypochlorite), which is effective against most common pathogens, including difficult organisms such as tuberculosis (mycobacterium tuberculosis), hepatitis B and C, fungi, and antibiotic-resistant strains of staphylococcus and enterococcus. It even has some disinfectant action against parasitic organisms.

“It kills the widest range of pathogens of any inexpensive disinfectant, is extremely powerful against viruses and bacteria at room temperature, is commonly available and inexpensive, and breaks down quickly into harmless components (primarily table salt and oxygen).

“To use chlorine bleach effectively, the surface or item to be disinfected must be clean. In the bathroom or when cleaning after pets, special caution must be taken to wipe up urine first, before applying chlorine, to avoid reaction with the ammonia in urine, causing toxic gas by-products. A 1-to-20 solution in water is effective simply by being wiped on and left to dry. The user should wear rubber gloves and, in tight airless spaces, goggles.

“Commercial bleach tends to lose strength over time, whenever the container is opened. Old containers of partially used bleach may no longer have the labeled concentration.”

Now, many people have been known to steer clear of bleach because of the negatives:

“It is caustic to the skin, lungs, and eyes (especially at higher concentrations); like many common disinfectants, it has a strong odor and extreme caution must be taken not to combine it with ammonia or any acid (such as vinegar), as this can cause noxious gases to be formed.”

The “100 Dos and Don’ts of the M. G. T.,”  #94 reads: “We use Clorox (bleach) for dish-washing.” All it takes is about a tablespoon of bleach for a whole sink full of dishwater.

The 100 Dos and Dont’s were written prior to the advent of the widescale use of dishwashers, but I just Googled if dishwashers disinfect and the answer is yes, so it is not necessary to use bleach when using a dishwasher.

In order to kill bacteria, the water has to reach one hundred and forty degrees farenheit, which according to Google is “easily reached in a dishwasher.” But in a sink, you would not be able to stand water that hot, so continue to use the bleach.

I would have to say that, although bleach seems a bit potent, it is the most effective, tested and approved DISINFECTANT for us to use.

I know, I know, I wanted to use lemons too, but it is better to use something that is actually going to do the job of killing germs and keeping us free from sickness than to use something “natural” that doesn’t actually work….
