HOMEMAKING FOR THE BLACKWOMAN.COM JOURNAL – 50 YEARS OF HIP-HOP SISTERHOOD!!! B-GIRLS FOREVER! ❤️ ❤️ ❤️

BISMILLAHI RAHMANI RAHIM

As-Salaamu ‘Alaikum

I was really trying to keep Hip-Hop for the Brothers.

When the girls enter the scene EVERYTHING pfffsfsfsf downhill…

but I’m Hip-Hop so

I was in a Biology Laboratory class with one of these Sisters. She told me who she was. They’re out of The Blowed but she told me she didn’t freestyle. I didn’t understand. Then she said she writes her rhymes. Pretty sure JAH SKILLZ…

Hip-Hop Sistren:

Sha Rock Lisa Lee Debbie Deb Us Girls Angie Stone Mercedes Young Ladies Miss Melodie Harmony MC Lyte Sweet Tee Antoinette Finesse & Synquis Queen Latifah Monie Love Yo-Yo T-Love Watts 1965 Heart & Soul Oaktown’s 357 Isis Ladybug Mecca Doggy’s Angels BWP HWA, MC Umi Amel Larrioux Mary Aretha Baby Ebony Shortie Erykah Janel Monet Vita Lil Mo Missy Total SWV the sistem five footas Femme Fatale Foxy Brown Lil’ Kim Eve Jill Scott Lyn Collins cleoPATRA Brandy Kathleen Battle Dinah Washington THE SUPREMES MC TROUBLE Michellé Aleena Zahir Hollywood Aaliyah ♥️ Phyllis Hyman Donna Summer Jazzy Joyce Salt N Pepa TLC Trina MONALISA JJ FAD L’Trimm RAGE Da Brat Xscape Roxanne Roxanne Roxanne Shanté Lisa-Lisa Brownstone Jade

And we cannot forget all those talented yet uncredited, unnamed Sisters who lent their vocals on innumerable albums increasing the popularity of recordings by our brothers.

For example, who are the Sisters on these classic hooks???

(Okay, this is a remix with the hook as a whole song. But who is she? Sounds like Janet if she could riff... 😕 WARNING: RATED X )

I think I used to work at this place where Shatasha (above) used to be secretary.

Kim Hill (below) was THE ONLY person who I requested an interview with and she said NO.

I was like Rick Rubin (Ruben) in KRUSH GROOVE, “What do you mean by that?” LOL!

Warning: Some profanity in this number.

But Will asked me if I could sing waaaaaay before their first album hit. I wasn’t singing at the time and told him “no.” (*shrugs*)

Kim ended up being replaced by a devil.

ALLAH KNOWS BEST.

I stopped listening to commercial radio when I reverted to ISLAM in 2006 so my knowledge of Hip-Hop in general pretty much stops there.

Some don’t emcee/rap but the MUSIC…

Feel free to comment and help reFRESH my memory Shukran

You might not be able to hear the Hip-Hop in the Supremes but just imagine a scratch in there somewhere LOL!!!

Mind you, Fifty years ago THERE WERE NO HIP-HOP records!

KOOL D.J. HERCULES and his peers heard the Hip-Hop in SOUL, JAZZ, DISCO, REGGAE, RHYTHM & BLUES and even Gospel music.

And they broke, wrote, beatboxed, emceed and dee-jayed those records into what we now call HIP-HOP! OURSTORY!!!

Happy FIFTY YEARS of the best thing to ever happen to the UNIVERSE!!!

Most Early Hip-Hoppers were MUSLIMS!

Imagine a scratch in here… for real

And I’ll leave you with the Ultimate Diva. Choose a sample…
