As-Salaamu ‘Alaikum My Dearly Beloved Sisters (and Brothers)!!!

I had the pleasure of meeting The Roots in the nineties. I can’t even remember if I interviewed them. I don’t think so. They were just SO SUPER COOL. The idea of an interview just flew out the window. LOL

I can be very sociable sometimes and because my show was just for fun, I didn’t have any pressure of a deadline or ANYTHING. LOL It’s crazy because I used to go see them AT LEAST once a month.

I called them THE HARDEST WORKING BAND IN HIP-HOP because they literally, played THE HOLLYWOOD HOUSE OF BLUES (blesst in peace) at least once a month!

This was before they inevitably blew up and went to back JIMMY KIMMEL.

Anyway, we got so amicable that me and the cru planned to cook a home-cooked meal for them while they were in L.A. but that never materialized… same with Trevor and Spliff…. :/   *shrugs*

The last time I saw them at the HOB, I was talking to Ahmir, and my friend, who had moved to Philly and was in a group that The Roots was producing, kind of “interrupted” our conversation, and everything got all awkward…

SHOUT OUT TO DEBO, I mean Mrs. Accius 🙂 You made Macy Grey sound good!!! 🙂 🙂 🙂
Wikipedia doesn’t list you as a member that left :/ but I saw you on discogs 🙂
I like them because NONE of their songs were about ❤ ❤ ❤ 🙂 and I could listen and not have to worry about my young son…

YOU KNOW I GOTTA SHOW ❤ ❤ ❤ TO OUR SISTERS!!! 🙂 🙂 🙂

I totally understand the difficulty in maintaining a girl group.
The SUPREMES used to be FOUR PRIMETTES
JJ FAD was named after the original FIVE MEMBERS
So, them ending up with two and completing three albums is impressive. AND they are not singing about they love lives :/ ….. ALLAHU AKBAR! 🙂

OKAY, BACK TO THE FORMER NATION’S CAPITOL….

…….Looking at some old footage of him and Tariq (who I just found out wrote a book!!!! Cannot wait!!!!)

CLICK THE BOOK COVER TO PURCHASE! 🙂

TARIQ LUQMAN – SURAH 31 :)

ICU JILLY FROM PHILLY Maybe we can talk about SURAH 31 (LUQMAN): VERSE 18

English Translation and Commentary of the Holy Quran

by Maulana Muhammad Ali

Quran: Search & listen

Chapter 31: Luqman — Luqman (Revealed at Makkah: 4 sections, 34 verses)

Section 2 (Verses 31:12–31:19): Luqman’s Advice to his Son

Translation:

31:12 And certainly We gave Luqmān wisdom,1 saying: Give thanks to Allah. And whoever is thankful, is thankful for the good of his own soul; and whoever denies, then surely Allah is Self-Sufficient, Praised.

31:13 And when Luqmān said to his son, while he instructed him: My son, set up no partner with Allah. Surely setting up partners (with Him) is a grievous wrong.

31:14 And We have enjoined on man concerning his parents — his mother bears him with faintings upon faintings and his weaning takes two years — saying: Give thanks to Me and to your parents. To Me is the eventual coming.2

31:15 And if they strive to make you set up partners with Me, of which you have no knowledge, do not obey them,3 and keep kindly company with them in this world, and follow the way of him who turns to Me; then to Me is your return, then I shall inform you of what you did.

31:16 My son, even if it is the weight of a grain of mustard-seed, even though it were in a rock, or in the heaven or in the earth, Allah will bring it forth. Surely Allah is Knower of subtleties, Aware.

31:17 My son, keep up prayer and enjoin good and forbid evil, and bear patiently whatever befalls you. Surely this is a matter of great resolution.

31:18 And do not turn your face away from people in contempt, nor go about in the land exultingly. Surely Allah does not love any self-conceited boaster.

31:19 And pursue the right course in your going about and lower your voice. Surely the most hateful of voices is braying of donkeys.4

Commentary:

  1. From what is stated of him, Luqmān seems to have been an Ethiopian. It is very probable that the Greek “Æsop” is a corruption of “Ethiopian” and is identical with Luqmān. The Quran accepts many prophets besides those mentioned in the Bible.
  2. Verses 14 and 15 are parenthetical, enjoining the duty of obedience to parents, because it is a parent who is advising his son.
  3. Despite the great stress that the Quran lays on the duty of obedience to parents, it also warns against attaching undue importance to that duty when the same clashes with a still higher duty, namely, duty to one’s Maker. In fact any duty, however great, must be sacrificed before a higher duty, and one’s duty to one’s Maker is the highest of all duties.
  4. Humility and meekness were taught by every prophet. An Ethiopian too preached the meekness and humility which was preached by Jesus.

And I saw the conditions that they lived in. SQUALOR comes to mind.

Then I also think back to FAT ALBERT & THE JUNKYARD GANG and how such privation was rampant.

It made me think about what led up to such conditions…

Black people from Philly also seem to have a different mentality than other members of the Great Asiatic Black Nation of Islam of The Tribe of Shabazz.

And I know there are different areas; North Philly, East Philly… but the relics from the city’s past as the nation’s capitol are still there like PRESIDENTIAL STREET.

What happened to the slaves who were owned by the government?

PENNSYLVANIA WAS A FREE STATE!!!

THE GOVERNMENT DIDN’T BUY SLAVES UNTIL THE CAPITAL WAS CHANGED TO A CITY THAT SOUNDS LIKE A GOOD PLACE TO HOUSE SLAVES.

“You need anything cleaned, shined, buffed, detailed – WASHING TOWN”

The most basic servant position.

Watching or Washing .

The country digressed from LOVE to SLAVE.

And after Congress, The Supreme Court, The President and all the Departments having anything to do with the management of the country (Agricultural, Transportation, Finance, Housing, Defense, Cultural, Foreign Affairs, Education, Healthcare, Mass Communications, etc…)

Who was left?

Most of the city probably went with the money…

I had a visit to the former capitol on my bucket list because my fourth grade class didn’t travel out of the state.

So I really know nothing except what I have gathered second hand.

Being in The Nation, I look at how Islam has affected the city AND the culture.

THERE IS A HUGE MUSLIM COMMUNITY IN PHILLY and I know it is because of The Nations Temple #12 which was headed by JEREMIAH SHABAZZ. It was one of the most successful Temple’s in the entire Nation of Islam.

FROM YOUTUBE:
“In The Name of Allah, Master Fard Muhammad. I bear witness there is no god but He and I bear witness that The Honorable Elijah Muhammad(PBUH) is His True Servant and Apostle

“As Salaam Alaikum Brothers and Sisters, this is the great Minister Jeremiah Shabazz being interviewed by Minister Nasir Hakim from MEMPS.

“Minister Shabazz is truly a legend. His track record was incredible as he served Messenger Elijah Muhammad. He was arguably the most productive Minister in the history of the Nation of Islam. He was not as well known as Minister Malcolm because he was not the type to be in the media – the way Malcolm was.

“To understand just how great of a helper to Mr. Muhammad, Brother Shabazz was; one has to put his accomplishments in their historical context.

“Minister Shabazz was sent to the south in 1957. This was during the time of the notorious Jim Crow laws. Minister Jeremiah not only built up the Temple in Atlanta. But he also built up that whole region. He is the only black man in history to go to a Klu Klux Klan meeting and survive.

“After building up the south for 7 years. Minister Shabazz was relocated back to his home town, Philadelphia PA. He was sent there after Wallace’s defection from the Nation of Islam. He was sent there under a similar circumstance that Minister Farrakhan was sent to New York under.

“As the Minister in Philadelphia, he transformed Temple Number 12 into The Most Productive Temple in The Nation of Islam. That Temple, pound for pound, sold more papers, had more businesses and generated more money for the Nation of Islam that any city in the Nation; relative to its size.

“I could literally write about this giant of a man until tomorrow. However, he could tell it better than I can. If you would like to know more, you can order his book, Top of The Clock:

The move of the capitol from Philadelphia – The City of Brotherly Love aka FREEDOM named after a Biblical Metropolis in the HOLY LAND where Jesus and his Disciples taught the Universal Gospel of SALAAM – to another city, had to have a massive impact on the BLACK PEOPLE who remained living there.

I read THE UNDERGROUND RAIL ROAD, and Philadelphia -THE NATION’S CAPITOL CITY – was where innumerable “fugitives” finally found their FREEDOM.

I read that the capitol moved to D.C. because of the southern slaveholding states’ insistence.

——– THAT’S ALL I CAN TAKE. I’M SUPER-SENSITIVE. BUT YOU CAN RESEARCH IF YOU LIKE 🙂 ——-

“The Residence Act of July 16, 1790, put the nation’s capital in current-day Washington as part of a plan to appease pro-slavery states who feared a northern capital as being too sympathetic to abolitionists.”

:/

This tells why. but what about the AFTERMATHEMATICS?

Please if your family was affected by the move please leave a comment.

No one will see it but me.

All you OURSTORIANS, this would make a fascinating subject to research for posterity!
