CAULIFLOWER CRISPS

20130828_165211

INGREDIENTS

Cauliflower
Garlic
Onion
Butter
Salt
Italian Seasonings

DIRECTIONS

* Chop the florets of a head of cauliflower (however much you need) and wash prior to preparing, giving it enough time to dry completely. (Or you can just break them off by hand like I do 😉 )

**When you are ready to cook:

* Preheat oven to 375°

* Peel garlic cloves (as many as you want) and pierce with a fork

* Chop onion (however much you need and whatever size you want)

* Put cauliflower, garlic, onion, 2 tbsp. melted butter, a few shakes of salt and Italian Seasonings in an airtight container and mix well. (You can even use a Ziploc bag. 🙂 )

* Spread ingredients out on a baking sheet, place on top rack in oven and bake for about 15-20 minutes.

*  Lower heat to 350° and bake another 20 minutes.

This recipe was all right but I prefer my vegetables soft and buttery like this.

But everybody has different tastes. So I’m going to leave it here. 🙂

Homemade Butter!

Bismillahi Rahmani Rahim

1233209_10201099927794791_1654980612_o

As-Salaamu ‘Alaikum Beloved Sisters!

My son, Hakim, finally convinced me to allow him to do a science experiment with some heavy whipping cream I had in the fridge. I wanted to make ice cream, but he wanted to make butter.

I finally acquiesced, and I’m beginning to think that he may have stumbled upon one of the best ideas he’s ever had. (And he’s had some good ones.)

I let him do all the work. The first time, he only used 4 oz. of cream; and it seemed like I got about 4 oz. (one stick) worth of butter!

The next time (the time of the butter shown in the picture), he used two cups. It yielded about a cup of buttermilk. So, if you subtract that from the starting amount, that means he made about a cup (two sticks) of butter. But it seems like much more because you don’t need to use as much as you would store manufactured butter.

In short, 8 oz. of cream will yield 8 oz. or two STICKS of Butter.

I tasted some of my leftover store bought butter and some of his homemade butter and the difference was astonishing! His butter had twice as much flavor and was creamier and smoother.
Suffice it to say, we will be making our own butter from now on….

“VEGETABLES, MILK AND BUTTER are the right foods to eat, when they are pure….”
(HOW TO EAT TO LIVE, BOOK TWO)

download

And it is so easy to make! All you have to do is pour some Heavy Whipping Cream into a glass jar with a lid and shake it up. That’s it!

The length of time depends on how much cream you use. But it didn’t take nearly as long as I had remembered. (I did it once when I was little). First, the cream will get really thick and if you want to make whip cream, you can just sweeten it and eat it like that. But to make butter, you have to keep shaking it and eventually the liquid will separate from the solid and you will be left with fresh, homemade butter!!! Also, if you don’t want to do so much shaking, you can let it sit for about 15-20 minutes after it gets to the whipped cream state and then come back and shake it up. It will turn into butter right away.

**UPDATE**

Sisters, yesterday I used the butter in my cooking and I melted it before I used it…. Why was it creamy yellow and milky? It was nothing like the butter I used to buy from the store! The butter I used to buy from the store used to separate into two liquids when I melted it. THEY ADD WATER TO STORE-BOUGHT BUTTER!! I feel like such a fool for buying that crap all of my life. And it is ridiculously easy to just make your own. But if you knew better you do better….

BROILED SALMON WITH LEMON AND ITALIAN SEASONING

486768_577554078944306_616249557_n

As-Salaamu ‘Alaikum Beloved and Blessed, Beautiful Black Sisters!

One of my favorite dishes to make is Broiled Salmon. It is simple and delicious; healthy and nutritious. Our Beloved Messenger (May the Peace and the Blessings of Allah Forever Be Upon Him) taught us in HOW TO EAT TO LIVE, BOOK TWO about: “FISH – we can eat fish. Fish is raised under a different atmosphere. Fish is from a different world of life. Fish is born and fish lives, in the water of life. Fish is good for us.”  However, as with anything we eat, we have to be careful that we eat the right kinds of fish. Our Beloved Messenger (PBUH) taught us that, “Allah forbids us to eat a fish weighing over 50 pounds (or even weighing 50 pounds.)” Such as TUNA.

*You Can Read HOW TO EAT TO LIVE, BOOK TWO In Its Entirety Here.*

Under the Divine Leadership of The Honorable Elijah Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him), The Nation of Islam had a very lucrative business importing fish from Peru and selling it at a very reasonable price among the so-called American Negroes, who were, as they are today, suffering from extreme poverty. The chosen fish was “Whiting H & G”

Muhammad Speaks

Whiting is a very inexpensive but healthy fish for us to eat. I usually bake it with lemon and a little salt and pepper. 1063874_376574149131388_941492846_o

But it has bones and it is hard for my son to eat, so he prefers Salmon.

It is also very healthy for us to eat, although not quite as inexpensive. When choosing Salmon for your family, be sure to choose “Wild Caught” as opposed to “Farmed.” Fish farms are full of filth and the fish are not as clean as the fish that are caught in their natural environment. Whenever you eat some type of living thing, whether it is cow, chicken, lamb or fish, you want to make sure it lived as healthy a life as possible. The saying is true, that “You are what you eat.” So we want to make sure we don’t eat fish or anything that lived off of filth (scavengers).

Broiled Salmon is so easy to make and cooks in five minutes!

DIRECTIONS

Pre-heat oven on “Broil”. Rinse Salmon with cool water (both sides). Lightly squeeze fresh lemon juice over the fillets. Sprinkle with salt and Italian Seasoning. Flip over and repeat. Top with thinly sliced garlic. Broil about five-ten minutes (depending on the thickness).

As-Salaamu ‘Alaikum Beloved and Beautiful Sisters,

I LOVE EGGS! They are probably the easiest and most versatile food on our planet. Our Beloved Messenger (Peace Be Upon Him) taught us in HOW TO EAT TO LIVE, BOOK TWO (Page 97) that “Eggs are all right to eat…But do not try to eat all that the hens lay at one time. (smile).”

He taught us that, “No meat is good for you,” so we should be vegetarians or pescatarians. However, going vegan is exceeding the limits. As I already mentioned, The Messenger of Allah (PBUH) taught us eggs are all right. He also repeatedly taught us that Milk Is Our First Food and it is One of The Best Foods We Can Eat.

He also taught us that we can eat butter and cheese. So, since The Honorable Elijah Muhammad (May the Peace and the Blessings of Allah Forever Be Upon Him) was Taught By THE ALL-KNOWING, ALL-WISE, ALL-POWERFUL LORD OF THE WORLDS, I do not agree with anyone (who was probably taught by the devil Caucasians, who were put here to cut short our lives) on becoming vegan.

Many of you Muslims, are claiming that the food is worse now than it was when Our Beloved Messenger (PBUH) was alive. But my dear Sisters, do you not know that Our Beloved Messenger (PBUH) Was Taught the Knowledge, Wisdom and Understanding that is going to carry us into the Hereafter??? Do you think that he did not know all that is to come?? He taught us that the devil tampers with everything, so do the best you can and eat one meal a day.

He also taught us to eat simple foods and if you follow The Divine Supreme Wisdom Teachings of HOW TO EAT TO LIVE, you will find that there are only a few foods that you can eat to live. However, you can vary your preparation of these foods and eat happily and healthily.

Our diets should consist primarily of milk, bread and beans. We can also eat fruits and vegetables. Our Beloved Messenger (PBUH) also taught us that we can “eat some sweets, but do not make a meal of sweets and eat them every day.” He taught us to “leave those old, white potatoes alone” and that if we want to live a long time, we should not eat spaghetti and macaroni. However, he said we can eat rice, but since it is a very starchy food, we should only eat it in moderation. He also gave specific instructions on how to cook rice.

But this is about eggs. I have found several different ways to jazz up my vegetable dishes just by adding eggs. Quiche is delicious, but requires a little more work if you make your crust from scratch. So, I usually just make something called a frittata. It is like a casserole but just with eggs, vegetables and cheese. And I don’t even make that too often. It’s easier to just make what my son and I call “Eggstables.” I generally, just roast some vegetables (it doesn’t matter what kind) like I normally do, with garlic, onion, butter and seasonings. But instead of just eating them, I scramble three to five eggs with parmesan cheese (I like fresh cheese for grating myself because it doesn’t have the preservatives) and add a little milk and scramble them all together. Eggs always come out lighter and fluffier when you add milk. I season it the way I like it and it tastes really good, not to mention how super simple it is to make. Hakim eats it pretty much every day with Bean Soup and Wheat Toast with Butter and Cream Cheese.

Try it and see for yourself!

*Here is an easy recipe with eggs and zucchini that doesn’t even require you to pre-cook the vegetables.

Frittatas are the egg dish that I absolutely love and have eaten every day for weeks. It is very similar to the Eggstables, but instead of frying the eggs with the vegetables on the stove top, you cook the vegetables and scramble the eggs separately in a bowl with freshly grated Parmesan cheese (you can use any cheese but Parmesan is my fave), a little cream or milk and seasonings then add the eggs to the roasted vegetables and bake for about twenty more minutes. And OMG! So Good! Another little addition I like to add are capers! They take the frittata over the top!

grocery store layout

(Don’t eat cereals, peanut butter, nuts nor dried fruit nor canned beans. Processed cereals and nuts are hard on the digestive system and you should eat FRESH fruit and dry beans.)

As-Salaamu ‘Alaikum Beloved and Beautiful Sisters!

Dear Sisters, as the woman of the house, we are responsible for doing the shopping for our family’s needs. We must make wise decisions and avoid impulse shopping and purchasing unhealthy and toxic foods and products.

The best way to shop, when visiting the supermarket is “The U.” If you notice, most grocery stores are arranged according to the diagram above. Fresh fruits and vegetables, dairy, breads and fish (which should be the basis of our diet) are located on the perimeter. Avoid the meat section as The Honourable Elijah Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him) taught us in How To Eat To Live, that, “No Meat Is Good For You.” But, of course, they’re going to offer it to you because they want to commercialize on that which will kill you. So, use wisdom and shun the meat section.

The processed, packaged, full of preservatives, artificial colors and artificial flavors (slow-death), UNHEALTHY foods are located down the aisles in the center of the store. The only items we should look for on these aisles are such foods as flour and beans.

If you are in the habit of going down every aisle just picking out things that suit your fancy, stop it!! This is impulse buying and it is a wasteful and prodigal practice.

Always make a list

And, stick to the items on your list. Our Beloved Messenger (May the Peace and the Blessings of Allah forever be upon him) taught us that, “Simple foods are the best”.

You do not need to be trying out every new food the devil manufactures. Lest you find yourself trying out a new coffin. Simplify your diet so that you can live a long time in good health and with a youthful and beautiful appearance.

This way your selection of foods will not vary too much and you will become very familiar with the ingredients, location and prices of the foods you purchase. You will find your grocery shopping to be easy, familiar, cost effective and time efficient, going down the aisles very rarely, with most of your purchases being made in “The U”.

As-Salaamu ‘Alaikum Beautiful and Beloved Black Sisters!

Although Eggplant is a dish that is not traditionally served in Black households, it is VERY delicious and also good for our health. There are many recipes for this exotic fruit that can be incorporated into our diets without too much inconvenience.

Now, you may have never cooked with Eggplant and may be a little intimidated when it comes to selecting an eggplant. I’ve bought them on several occasions and had to throw them away because they were discolored when I brought them home and cut into them. However, I’ve read that a little discoloration is okay. They are like apples.

But now, that I’ve read up on how to select an Eggplant, I shouldn’t have that problem anymore, In Sha Allah (If It Is The Will Of Allah). Now, when I researched how to select an Eggplant I was met with conflicting reports. However, I was fortunate enough to read the “rebuttals” to the claims first and then I got to the claim that like many plants, “eggplants can be male or female.” However, according to science, this is not true, because eggplants self-pollinate, meaning that  they have both MALE and FEMALE parts.

However, I continued my research and happened across a cook who was writing from experience and I rely more on and expert who speaks from experience than on one who speaks from experiments.

This is what she had to say. When choosing an eggplant, the males generally have fewer seeds than the females, and since the seeds give the eggplant a bitter taste, you want to choose a male.

Here is how you can tell the difference. Look at the bottom of the Eggplant. Female eggplants generally have wider, deep “navels” (pictured on the right) while males have round, smaller and shallower “navels”

You also want to look for Eggplants that have shiny, taut skin. If the skin is dull, it may be too ripe and will likely have developed more seeds.

This recipe is so simple and sounds delicious. I think I might try it covered in Parmesan cheese! 😉

“EAT” BREAD (Recipe)

BISMILLAH

In the Most Holy and Righteous Name of Allah

*You Can Read How to Eat to Live, Book Two In Its Entirety Here.*

As-Salaamu ‘Alaikum Beloved Sisters!

Our Beloved Messenger (Peace Be Upon Him) taught us that milk is our first food; bread is next. Along with Milk and Bean Soup, pure Whole-Wheat Bread is one of the three best foods we can eat. But most breads found in the markets today are full of chemicals, salt, preservatives and artificial flavors (slow death) added. All of which are harmful to our health.

Baking bread is one of the simplest and healthiest things you can do for your family. It is also very therapeutic. The time you devote to bread-making relaxes your mind, clears your thoughts, allows you to think and plan and is an all-around stress-reliever. The process of kneading the dough is not only soothing to your muscles, but also allows you to constructively release pent-up frustration.

Setting aside time every week to bake bread is one of the most rewarding things you can do. It takes quite a bit of time from start to finish, but it is not like you cannot do other things while you are in the process of making bread. I do laundry, clean up, write, sometimes I even make a short trip to the store while I’m waiting for my dough to rise! And the end result is a pair of healthy and nutritious (not to mention delicious!) loaves of 100% Pure Whole-Wheat Bread for you and your family to enjoy.

**********

I got my recipe off the Gold Medal Flour Whole Wheat package, but their recipe calls for white flour also. Our Beloved Messenger (PBUH) taught us that “pure wheat makes the best bread,” so I only use wheat flour. Another difference is that that recipe only instructs you to let the dough rise twice, but another M.G.T. taught me to let the dough rise three times and the difference in the final product is remarkable. Just by letting the dough rise one more time, the bread comes out MUCH lighter.

I also don’t use salt.

Because of all of the detrimental ingredients found in most store-bought mass-produced breads, The Nation of Islam had its own line of bread called “EAT” Bread, which was made using The Nation of Islam Flour and was sold in The Nation of Islam’s “YOUR SUPERMARKETS” and bakeries across the country.

Eat Bread 3

Our Beloved Messenger, The Most Honorable Elijah Muhammad (PBUH) also taught us that we should bake this bread two or three times if we would take the time to do so. Our Saviour, Master Fard Muhammad, taught him that bread is better for you if you bake it two or three times. I have not yet mastered this technique, but In sha Allah (If it is the Will of Allah), I will soon.

An older Sister told me after you have baked the bead the first time you just put it back in your bowl and add milk. I tried it and it seemed ruined. I could not see myself baking it again. In retrospect, I think I should have tried.

“YOU MUST REMEMBER when you are eating bread, when it gets into your stomach it rises again, and, if it is not prepared right and baked right outside, before entering our stomach, it has the tendency to buckle in the stomach and intestines. But, when it is baked thoroughly done, it does not do a lot of rising after it gets into our stomach.

“Bake your bread thoroughly done!! I would to my Allah, we could eat bread that has been baked two or three times.” (HOW TO EAT TO LIVE)

Bread is one of the easiest digestible foods we can eat, but we must be sure that it—- is prepared properly. It should be cooked and browned through and through. And we should not make our loaves too thick. I have never had a problem with this recipe being too thick or not being cooked thoroughly. It always comes out perfect.

Also, Our Beloved Messenger (PBUH) taught us that we should NEVER eat fresh baked bread! (i.e. the same day it is cooked). We should wait at least 24 hours before we eat it and give it time to dry out. That way it won’t do too much rising in our stomachs.

Also, be sure to make sure the water temperature is right for the yeast. If it is too hot, you will kill the yeast and your dough won’t rise. It has to be 100-115 degrees F. That is just a little bit too hot for your hands to stand. You might be able to keep your hands in the water for a couple seconds, but then it will be too hot. Fortunately, my sink water gets to just the right temperature so I don’t have to use a thermometer, but I think I may just be lucky. You can estimate or invest in a thermometer, whichever you feel comfortable doing.

INGREDIENTS

5-6 cups whole-wheat flour

4 oz. honey

1/2 cup freshly-made homemade butter + about 2 tablespoons

2 1/2 cups very hot water (almost boiling)

2 packages (2 1/4 teaspoons) active dry yeast

1/4 cup water 100-115 degrees F

2 1/2 cups very hot water

DIRECTIONS

1. In a small bowl, add 1/4 cup 100-115 degree water to yeast. Mix well and set aside.

2. Mix honey and butter with 2 1/2 cups very hot water. Stir until honey and butter are dissolved and let cool (about ten minutes).

(*Now is a good time to clean your dirty dishes, while you wait for the honey/butter/hot water mixture to cool. It is better to clean up as you go, otherwise your kitchen will be a mess when you’re finished*)

3. Mix or stir in 3 cups of whole-wheat flour, one-half cup at a time. Mix well.

4. Add yeast. (*It should have foamed up a little). Mix well.

5. Add more flour until dough begins to pull away from the sides of the bowl. (*This part is where your instinct comes in. As the dough thickens, it will become more and more difficult to mix. Eventually, you will get to the point where you’re just sprinkling flour onto the parts that still look “wet” and sticky, until the outside of the ball of dough is completely “dry”. I like to roll it around the bowl a bit, just to make sure no parts are sticking.)

6. Sprinkle flour onto your clean kneading surface. (Someone told me she kneads her dough in a big bowl, so if you don’t have space to knead on a surface, you can try doing that also.)

7. Empty dough from bowl onto the kneading surface. Generously cover your hands with flour and knead the dough 150 times.

8. Transfer kneaded dough into a lightly buttered bowl and cover with a towel. Set aside until dough rises to twice its size. (*It can take anywhere from 45 minutes to an hour and a half for your dough to rise. So, you have plenty of time to clean up and do other household tasks. Also, a warm kitchen helps the dough to rise so you might want to turn on your oven.)

9. When the dough has risen, punch it down in the middle (*Yes, like it said something about your Mama 🙂 ) This will deflate it. Then knead it again 150 times and set aside to rise again.

10. When the dough has risen again, punch it down, knead it and divide it in half.

11. Using a rolling pin, roll one half until it is 18 inches long.

12. Fold it up about one inch from the bottom of the dough, pressing down to remove any bubbles, and continue to “roll up” the dough, tucking in the sides.

13. Repeat with other half.

14. Place each half in a lightly buttered bread pan, cover and set aside to rise again.

736844_4573606332656_251889252_o

15. After dough has doubled in size, bake at 375 degrees F for 30 minutes.

16. Reduce temperature to 350 degrees F and bake an additional 15 minutes.

17. Remove bread from bread pans and let cool one hour.

That’s it! You’ve just made 100 per cent All Natural Honey Whole-Wheat Bread!

ALLAHU AKBAR! (ALLAH IS THE GREATEST!)

“HOW TO EAT TO LIVE. Eat that food that Allah (God) Has Prescribed for us. Even take little simple things such as beans. Allah (God) says that the little navy bean will make you live, just eat them. He Said to me that even milk and bread would make us live. Just eat bread and milk – it is the best food. He Said that a diet of navy beans would give us a life span of one hundred and forty (140) years.”

SIMPLE navy beans is one of the best foods that we can eat. You do not have to strain the beans to eat them. Straining the beans is a real habit that we took up years ago. But, they are better if you eat them in their hull (skin).”

“DO NOT put a lot of spices, or what you call seasonings, in such good food. Do not do this. You will ruin your food. The value of the bean is taken away by your putting so much seasoning in them. Just put the beans on and cook them until they are done. Let the beans stay in its jacket. Of course I see them crush the beans, and since the cooks and the eaters like it like that, I go along with them. But I like it better when you just cook them right in the jacket.”

“I FEEL like I could eat a bowl full of beans right now while I am talking about it. You can eat that bean seven (7) days a week. It is very appealing to the appetite.”

“WE SHOULD have a great field of hundreds and thousands of acres of beans to feed our people. It is a very cheap and a very healthy food for us. We should buy canning factories for ourselves and can beans.”

(Excerpts from HOW TO EAT TO LIVE, BOOK II by The Honorable Elijah Muhammad [PBUH])

*You Can Read How to Eat to Live, Book II In Its Entirety Here.*

As-Salaamu ‘Alaikum Beloved Sisters,

As the person responsible for providing our family with healthy and nutritious meals, we should make it a priority to read the above book. I cannot overemphasize its importance in the health and well-being of ourselves and our families.

As written above, along with bread and milk, the small Navy Bean is one of the three BEST foods we can eat, according to Our Beloved Messenger (PBUH). Our Saviour, Master Fard Muhammad, to Whom Praise is Due Forever, taught him (The Messenger) that most of us cannot afford the expensive foods that rich millionaires eat so He prescribed for us dried navy beans, bread and milk. And He said that these are the BEST foods we can eat.

There are the white, pink, and red ones. I have only seen the white beans labelled as “Navy” beans in the grocery store. And now they are starting to just label them “small white beans” in some places. You may also find pink and red beans, but I am not sure if these are actually “Navy” beans because all of the ones I have seen are somewhat larger than the white ones.

Our Beloved Messenger (PBUH) taught us that Allah taught him that the only kidney-like bean should we eat is the “SMALL NAVY BEAN.” Not red, black, brown, pinto or any other type of bean. Not the Great Northern Bean either. Only the small, white, Navy bean.

Elsewhere in the book, he teaches us that the Navy Bean contains all of the protein, carbohydrates (starches) and fats that we need to keep us healthy and strong. The Honorable Elijah Muhammad (PBUH) taught us that, contrary to popular belief, the small, white, navy bean is complete in itself. It is not necessary to pair it with rice or meat. In order to “eat to live,” we must incorporate the Navy Bean into our diet.

On a trivial note, the beans are called “Navy Beans” because they were a staple of the United States Navy in the early twentieth century. The Navy bean is considered, even by the devil, to be one of the healthiest foods one can eat. It is packed with fiber, lowers cholesterol, gives you energy while burning fat, and prevents heart attacks and some say, even prevents cancer.

The best and tastiest dish that you can prepare for your family is The Bean Soup. I had some today and it was so good, I felt like licking the bowl!

In order to make Bean Soup, you can invest in a Crock Pot (slow cooker) or make it on the stovetop. Just put all the ingredients in a big pot with some water, keep a sharp eye on it, stirring occasionally, adding water when necessary, and the following recipe works just as well on the stovetop.

Crock Pots come in sizes of 4.5 quarts and 6 quarts now. Mine is 5 quarts, but you can vary the recipe to fit your Crock Pot as well as your tastes.

Here is a very simple recipe. Our Beloved Messenger (PBUH) taught us that “simple foods are the best”. So, I don’t use a lot of ingredients. But feel free to adjust the recipe as you like.

Ingredients

One lb. bag of small white beans
1/2 stick of butter
One large onion
3-4 Garlic cloves
2 teaspoons (t) salt
1/2 t Italian Seasoning
1/2 t Curry powder
1/2 green bell pepper (optional)
2 medium tomatoes (optional)
2 sticks of celery (optional)
2 sticks of carrots (optional)

Sort and wash beans, removing all rocks and any fragmented beans. Soak beans with about a tablespoon of baking soda overnight or about 8 hours.

When you are ready to prepare the soup, rinse beans and fill your pot with about 8 cups of water (* If you use the optional ingredients, you will probably need more water).

Pour in beans.

Add 1/2 stick of butter.

Add chopped onion and crushed garlic cloves.

Add optional ingredients chopped.

Add Italian Seasonings and Curry.

Stir. Cover.

If you are cooking on the stovetop, it may take about two hours to cook the beans thoroughly.

If you are using a Crock Pot, cook on “Low” about ten hours or “High” about 6 hours (I’m not exactly sure how long to cook on “High,” I haven’t cooked on “High” in a few years. Probably 5-6 hours. Check it after four though.)

Add salt.

*Note – Do not add the salt until after the beans have finished cooking. If you add the salt earlier, it will make the beans hard.

(*If you like, you can allow the soup to cool and then blend it in the blender. This gives it a different texture. Many people prefer it blended. I like it both ways.)

You can add other seasonings, like sage, turmeric and oregano, if you wish, but the Messenger (PBUH) taught us not to put too much seasoning in the soup. He wrote that you ruin the value of the bean by putting so much seasoning in them. He wrote, just put the beans on and let them cook until they are done and not half-done. If you eat half-cooked beans, you might get the colic. So just cook the beans and eat them. You can eat this soup seven (7) days a week. It is very appealing to the appetite.

I recently discovered CREOLE SEASONINGS and have been using it as my only seasoning with some fresh parsley and this was the batch that made me want to lick the bowl it was so good.

My son eats Bean Soup EVERY DAY for dinner, along with wheat toast w/cream cheese and vegetables. He only eats one meal per day and is very healthy. I eat one meal per week, and at every meal we eat Bean Soup. We have been eating Bean Soup every day since I first read HOW TO EAT TO LIVE over seven years ago.

You may encounter some resistance from your children when you begin to introduce the idea of eating Bean Soup every day. But once you explain to your family how healthy it is and that Allah (God) prescribed it as The Best Food you can eat, if they have a modicum of intelligence they will accept the proper way to eat. You prepare the meals, so ultimately, they will eat whatever you prepare.

Just make sure you vary the other foods you serve along with the soup, such as different types and ways of preparing vegetables and fish.

Also, if you begin to improve your eating habits, your family will bear witness to the results for themselves, which is the best example you can give them. Our Saviour, Master Fard Muhammad, to Whom Praise is due forever, said, “A diet of navy beans would give us a life span of one hundred and forty (140) years.” Don’t you want to live to see you great-great-great-great grandchildren??? Well, this is the best way to make it so!!!

As-Salaam-Alaikum!
