BEST WAY TO SELECT SWEET & JUICY FRUIT – Smell. Squeeze. Inspect. Ask Allah. Select.

بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم

Fresh_Fruit

As-Salaamu ‘Alaikum Beautiful and Health-Conscious Black Sisters!

I know Summer is nearly over, but I went to the store the other day and walked past some cantaloupe that smelled so good, that I couldn’t just walk past and NOT buy any. And I had not even planned on buying ANY fruit, but I’ve learned that if you walk past a fruit and the smell just pops out at you – BUY IT!!!

I GUARANTEE you are not going to be disappointed.

You always want to select the sweetest, juiciest and most flavorful of all the fruit that are being offered, so as with anything else, before you make your final selection, Ask Allah!

He DELIGHTS in coming to our aid. He DELIGHTS in Guiding Us IN EVERYTHING WE DO. Make use of your Divine Resource, Sisters. He Helps Me With EVERYTHING. Every LITTLE thing. Even if it is something as trivial as, “SHOULD I READ THIS BOOK FIRST OR THE OTHER ONE?”

I have learned that it is always BEST to seek Allah’s Guidance in EVERY STEP YOU TAKE. If you take the wrong step, you will have strayed from The Path of Allah and everything you do after it will be wrong. But All Praises Are Due To Allah! All You Have To Do Is Say “Astagfirullah” (“Allah Forgive Me.”) And you can continue back on the Right Path.

Can you imagine what the world would be like if EVERYONE sought Allah’s Guidance in everything we do?

We would all live in UNITY and HARMONY and PEACE in submission to the Will of Allah. This is the NATURE of the Black Nation and ALL of Allah’s Creations, but we have an enemy that was NOT Created by The God of the Nation and they have made mischief and caused bloodshed the entire duration of their time on our Planet. I am referring to the white devil Caucasian race.

Allah is going to destroy them so that we can once again live in peace and harmony, but if we want to survive the destruction we must be one who submits to the Will of Allah. And we must begin now – before the destruction comes – to show that we are qualified to live in the next life. We have to prove our worthiness here and now – in this life.

The Honorable Elijah Muhammad (May the Peace and the Blessings of Allah Forever Be Upon Him) Taught Us In How To Eat To Live that:

“Fruit is good for us. We should eat plenty fruits.”

****

Here are some useful tips when selecting fruit.

#1 RULE – SMELL IT

If you smell it when you walk into the produce section – BUY IT!

I would say, even when you walk past it, if you smell it – BUY IT!

I always only buy the fruit that I smell. But if it is something that you just have to have:

SMELL IT – SQUEEZE IT – ASK ALLAH – SELECT IT.

WHOLE FRESH FRUIT

Whenever selecting fresh fruits and vegetables, don’t be afraid to LOOOOOOK. INSPECT EACH ONE METICULOUSLY BEFORE YOU PUT IT IN YOUR BAG. You know you are going to inspect it again before you eat it, and you don’t want any surprises. Check for signs of decay, bruises, soft spots and insect holes. If it is packaged and can be opened, open the package and inspect its contents fastidiously. Perfection is perfectly attainable if you refuse to settle for anything less.

watermelon

WATERMELON

Tap with four closed-fingers and listen for hollowness. If it sounds and feels like it’s empty on the inside – it’s good.

I’ll never forget returning from the farmer’s market, when my son, who was very little at the time, accidentally dropped a watermelon. And to my utter delight, it was YELLOW on the inside! I had never seen a yellow watermelon before and didn’t even know they existed. But according to Wisegeek, yellow and even white varieties of watermelon are even more ancient than the red! Watermelon are native to Africa. This explains why Black People in America are so fond of them.

oranges

Don’t be afraid to purchase fruit for your family, INSTEAD OF JUNK! Your children can only eat what you buy. Stay out of those aisles and SHOP THE “U”. Fill your refrigerator with fruits and seeds (The shelled kind are cleaner. Master Fard Muhammad, to Whom Praises are Due Forever, was eating sunflower seeds when I met HIM, so they are my snack of choice). Stop buying chips, cookies and NEVER EAT NUTS. Fruits are delicious, versatile AND all good. Feed your family foods that will give life and not take life away.

****

honeydew

CANTALOUPE, ORANGES, HONEYDEW AND ANY FRUIT WITH A “NAVEL”

Smell The Navel. If it emits a powerful smell, it’s good. The stronger the smell, the better the fruit. If you don’t smell anything, it’s probably not going to be any good. Keep looking. And always ask Allah.

If you’re interested, I had a friend who swore that honeydew are a well-kept beauty secret among devils. I haven’t tested this theory, but they taste good enough to try. 😉 If you are up to the challenge, comment and let us know what you find.

mangoesMANGOES

Mangoes are overwhelmingly the #1 choice fruit in the world. But you would be surprised to learn how many Black people have never tasted them. They are becoming more common among Black people, now that the street vendors are offering them. But if you want to purchase your own from the store, the first thing to look for before you even pick it up and squeeze it, is color. You want a fruit that is a combination of red and orange as in the picture. Honestly, I have never even seen a mango that looks like these pictured above. They usually have some green in them too. More like these:

mangoes real

I would pick up the two on the bottom left – the one in the center first. Feel its firmness, then remove the stem stub, if necessary, and smell the location where I just removed the stub.

When you squeeze it, you want it to yield but not feel so soft that it’s mushy. It should be firm but not hard. Visualize how it will react when you slice into it. Same thing with Kiwi. kiwi_sliceI remember when Kiwi first started gaining popularity. Everybody went crazy because of its aesthetic interior. As a result, it became the fruit of choice for fruit salads. But after buying them as an adult I realized, I don’t like them, so I stopped buying them, much to my son’s disappointment! He LOVED them. That’s when I learned that I can’t just buy what I like. I have to buy what he likes too. That was new to me. Sisters, learn your family’s preferences and buy the foods that they like too.

****

BANANA

Bananas depend on personal preference. Some people, like my grandmother, like them Black. I have found that the ones offered on the regular shelf are never ripe enough. The stores want you to buy them like that and make you wait for them to ripen when you get home. That’s greedy capitalism and not practical for us at all. You want to eat them when you get home! The good ones are the ones that have been marked down, they are usually the perfect ripeness. But because there is such a stigma attached to buying the “marked down” foods that I feel funny buying those. It looks like I can’t afford the regular priced ones. pffffff. Not after writing this. 😉

*A caution about bananas. If you eat too many they can cause constipation. I LOVED them as a child. I would eat them all day. I still remember putting the stickers on my forehead. LOL But I was always constipated. I didn’t think anything of it because I was young and children are not easily affected by things like that. I wasn’t, anyway. Not too long ago, my son asked me to make him some cooked carrots. I never liked them so I had never made them. But since he asked, I made them and he became constipated. So, I researched them and learned that both cooked carrots and bananas can cause constipation. So, eat them in moderation. And especially, if you are feeding them to your babies.

****

cherries

CHERRIES

Another one of my favorite fruits, and unfortunately the most expensive. I think cherries were the inspiration for the popular saying among Black People: “The Darker the Berry, the Sweeter the Juice.”  Pick the dark ones.

****

persimmons

PERSIMMONS

Delicious firm or soft, but I have never had one that wasn’t sweet.

****

strawberries

STRAWBERRIES

I never really cared for strawberries until I was in the hospital giving birth to my daughter. It was the last day in May and they gave me the BEST strawberries I had ever tasted. I made everybody who came to visit take one. They were absolutely delectable! Ever since then I’ve bought them every Summer and ALWAYS if I smell them.

****

Berries

BLUEBERRIES/BLACKBERRIES/RASPBERRIES

I don’t really like berries (except strawberries) unless I’m making something else and using them for added flavor. However, blueberries are my son’s favorite fruit. So, I buy them for him. I usually just let him taste one. But be cautious because it seems as if berries spoil faster than other fruits, so be sure and check for spoilage before you buy them.

****

apples

APPLES

So many different varieties! Apples are renown for their health benefits and since apple season is approaching, wisdom dictates taking advantage of their added nutrients!

applechartwashington

If you need help in deciding which kind you prefer at the moment, ask Allah for confirmation and then look for perfection. Smell each one and inspect them loooooking for any bruises, soft spots and insect holes. Always cut the skin off. It just tastes better. 😉

To get an idea and be better informed of the thousands of different varieties of apple, click here.

****

pears

PEARS

Next to apples, pears are probably the most variegated fruit you’ll find in the grocery store. I prefer the crunchiness of Bosc. But if your palette demands something soft and juicier, go with Bartlett. Smell. Squeeze. Inspect. Ask Allah. Select. I found this interesting article on the many different varieties of pears.

****

plums

PLUMS

Plums are another fruit that my son loves that I don’t care for. Different people have different preferences. Some people, like my son, prefer tangy/tart flavors. So, I buy plums for him. They also come in different varieties and can be good firm or soft. I used to squeeze and mash them almost, before I ate them to make them really soft. I always just ask Allah, when decided which ones to purchase – red or black – or whatnot. After that I just look for bruises and soft spots, always seeking perfection.

****

Pineapple-Main

PINEAPPLES

If you don’t smell them when you walk past, don’t buy them. Pineapples have a very strong smell. You should be able to smell them as soon as you enter the produce section. Look for a yellow hue. Smell the bottom. Remove the leaves before you buy, if it is being sold by the pound. This will bring the cost down. Pineapples are my favorite fruit (along with mangoes) so, I did a little additional research on them and found this:

“The two features to watch for when selecting a pineapple are ripeness and deterioration. Ripeness is indicated by a bright yellow/gold color on the skin that at the very least should be present on the eyes around the base of the fruit. Though industry literature states that a fully ripe pineapple may be entirely green, ”mature green,” it is also true that it may not be ripe.

“Buying a fully green pineapple is risky. The stem end of the fruit has the highest sugar content and is the ripest portion. The higher up that yellow color goes, the more evenly a pineapple will be flavored. That color, plus a pleasant, mild pineapple aroma at the base are the best guides to ripeness. The surface of the pineapple should be firm and gently yielding to the touch. The ability to pull a leaf from the crown proves nothing about ripeness, despite the enduring popularity of that myth.

“Deterioration is marked by a wrinkled skin, a cushiony softness and an aroma of fermentation that suggests vinegar or acetone. An overripe pineapple may be green or a reddish bronze color. Other negative signs are leakage, mold, cracks, gumminess or softness, and brown, withered leaves. All pineapple is sprayed with a fungicide that dries the leaves somewhat, but they should remain fairly green and bright.”

****

grapes

GRAPES

It is common enough and common sense enough to just open the bag and taste one. I know stores don’t like it, and I don’t like eating them without washing them, but one won’t hurt much, and I don’t care what the store employees nor the owners think because they are not the one who is going to be mad when I get home and taste them and find that they are sour. :/

As far as variety, I prefer Black grapes, but as long as they are sweet, that’s all that really matters. And if you really want a treat – FREEZE THEM. 😉

****

Autumn_Red_peaches

PEACHES

I prefer nectarines to peaches, but my son likes peaches. Again, always smell them. You should be able to smell them as soon as you enter the produce section. Firm or soft? Depends on your preference. But sometimes peaches can be soft and dry on the inside, which unfortunately, you won’t know until you bite into it.

****

nectarines

NECTARINES

I like nectarines that look just like this. They used to come really huge in the nineties. Now, I can’t find those big crunchy and juicy ones. They should be kind of bumpy and textured with spots, like the one on the far right. The harder the better. I used to LOVE biting into one of the big hard crunchy ones, but I fainted one day and fell and messed up my front tooth, so now I have to cut them. :/ It’s just not the same. 😦

****

lemon

LEMONS

The fruit I am never without, but still haven’t figured out how to pick. I am starting to feel for softness, because the juice is what you want, so they have to be squeezable. Skin thickness doesn’t really seem to be a factor in juiciness, neither size. But, since soda is not good for you and my son and I cannot agree on juice, I just buy lemons and make lemonade with honey, which we both love. We also eat a lot of fish and they are indispensable for seasoning fish.

HERE IS WHAT OUR BELOVED MESSENGER – THE HONORABLE ELIJAH MUHAMMAD (MAY THE PEACE AND THE BLESSINGS OF ALLAH FOREVER BE UPON HIM) WROTE CONCERNING FRUIT IN HOW TO EAT TO LIVE

“FRUITS – Fruits are all good and best for our consumption in their natural state. Fruits should never be cooked to get the better value out of them for our health. Fruits should be eaten raw and not cooked. The drying of fruits is only for preservation so that it can be eaten later but not with the value that it contained when it was fresh.”

VACUUM LINES

بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم

vacuum lines (1)

As-Salaamu ‘Alaikum Beautiful and Beloved Asiatic Black Sisters!

A few years ago, I was blessed to receive a vacuum for free which I used until it broke. I threw it away before someone told me I could have had it repaired. But all praise is due to Allah. He Blessed me with new one and I had no idea vacuuming could be so pleasurable.

My old vacuum was probably from the 1900′ sand extremely difficult to use. I wrote a blog about a method Allah told me to try and discovered that made vacuuming much easier and more efficient. If you have an older model, it might make vacuuming less cumbersome if you try out this method.

In any case, I love looking at houses. Your house is your heaven, so you want it to be exactly to your liking. So, I enjoy looking at different designs (interior and exterior) to get ideas and decide exactly what I want for myself. Sometimes, Allah Has Other Plans, and HE is THE BEST PLANNER, but it’s still fun just to look.

One site, posted pictures comparing different designs in the carpet lines. And, I was awakened to a new style of decorating. I had never even thought of using carpet lines as a form of accenting the aesthetic of a room. But, why not?

It not only makes the room more beautiful, but it is also a tacit way of drawing everyone’s attention to the fact that your house is super-clean. 😉

Develop Good Habits

بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم

*Make up your bed as soon as you get out of it.*

*Do your grooming and get dressed, every day, regardless of whether you are planning to go

somewhere or not.*

*Do not leave your home unless it is completely clean. There is no better feeling in the world than coming home to a clean and fresh-smelling home. No one wants to come home to a dirty house. When you are planning to leave, always allot yourself a few minutes extra time to clean up and handle any unexpected issues that might arise before your scheduled departure time. This will well ensure your timeliness.*

On a side note, Black People are notorious for being late. This can be prevented by allowing yourself an exorbitant amount of time to get ready. Don’t give yourself the minimum amount of time to get dressed. Get up early enough to prepare to leave at a relaxed and leisurely pace. I was always rushed growing up and I don’t do rushed well at all. Then I stayed with my cousin one week while my parents were out of town and I was exposed to an entirely new way of getting up in the morning. JUST GET UP EARLIER! It’s so simple. And there’s no need to rush! Islam means “Peace” and there is nothing in the world more liberating and peaceful than the freedom from time restraints. The devil has everybody rushing because their time is up. But we will live forever, so there is no need to hurry for anything! We don’t even celebrate birthdays. What for? Are you planning on checking out sometime soon? What are you celebrating for? It’s so silly. The devil celebrates every year he lives because he knows he is going to be destroyed any day now. But why do you celebrate a wedding anniversary if you are going to be married for the rest of your life? :/

*Pray before leaving. This is the prayer I recite everytime I leave the house:
“Oh Allah! We Beseech Thy Help And Ask Thy Protection.
We Believe In Thee And Trust In Thee.

We Worship Thee In The BEST Manner
And We Thank Thee.
We Are Not Ungrateful To Thee
And We Cast Off And Forsake Him Who Disobeys Thee.
Oh Allah! Thee Do We Serve
And To Thee Do We Pray And Make Obeisance.
To Thee Do We Flee And We Are QUICK!
We Hope For Thy Mercy
And We Fear Thy Chastisement.
For Surely Thy Chastisement Overtakes The Unbelievers.
Ameen.”

*Ensure that you give yourself ample time to reach your destination, so that you won’t be in a rush while driving. There are too many reckless drivers out there already. Make sure you are not one of them. You want to be cautious and alert while driving and even if taking public transportation. Be extremely aware of your surroundings – the people and activities going on around you. I don’t drive over forty miles an hour. No, I don’t take the freeway either. I like to drive down residential streets and take in the beauty around me, which I may never have noticed before. I like looking at the houses. I got that from my father (An Architect. You always knew which house he had designed, because it was the BEST and FINEST house on the block. And I’m not just saying that because he’s my father. He wouldn’t even have to point it out.) But, that’s just me. Give yourself time for delays. You never know what you may run into (no pun intended) on your way to your destination. Try to arrive at least ten minutes before you are scheduled to be there. Then you KNOW you won’t be late, you won’t be pressed to find parking, you won’t appear disheveled when you make your entrance and you won’t have to make any excuses.*

*When you return home, put away shoes, jacket, purse, hats and keys immediately upon entering your house. That way they won’t be taunting you later. Just do it.*

*When preparing meals, wash used dishes and clean up as you go. That way you won’t have a dirty kitchen in the back of your mind while you’re trying to enjoy your meal. As an added benefit, upon completion of your meal, you will have the minimum amount of cleaning up to do.*

*ONLY eat at the table.*

*Schedule chore times. i.e. vacuum every morning and evening, have your son get into the habit of taking out the trash immediately after dinner, clean the toilet everytime you use it, clean the bathroom mirror after you do your grooming, clean the entire bathroom every night after your bath, dust every morning after you get dressed, prepare meals at the same time every day, &c.*

*Consider Ironing/Pressing clothes as the last step of laundering. In other words, don’t just hang your clothes. You are not finished until after they have been pressed.*

These are just some things I thought of. If you have any you would like to add, please leave a comment! Help your Sisters attain perfection with suggestions. Our Beloved Messenger, the Honorable Elijah Muhammad (May the Peace and the Blessings of Allah forever be upon him) taught us that, “We Must Have Regularity In Everything We Do.” This is for a reason. It makes your house run smoothly and peacefully, when everyone knows what to expect and what is expected of them.

I’ll never forget, one day, the manager was doing some work on our apartment, so I was taking a break from our schedule but after a while, my son asked the manager what time it was. He told him 4:00. So, then here comes my seven-year-old son, “Mom, it’s four o’clock, shouldn’t you be fixing dinner?” LOL

An Excellent Display of Properly Civilized Behaviour

بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم

As-Salaamu ‘Alaikum Properly Civilized Black Sisters! (And Brothers! 😉 )

As I was searching YT for a video of a Black woman teaching proper etiquette for the Dinner table, I came across this remarkably enlightening video from the sixties. History rewards research. Oh, how I long for the days when EVERYBODY was refined and cultured, respectful and courteous. This raunchy, plebeian world is not suitable for The Gods of the Universe (Black Nation) at all.

So, when I saw this video, reminiscent of a long forgotten time, I automatically clicked on it. However, I skipped past the beginning. The devil was so young – much too young to be courting. I couldn’t stomach watching him go through the process of asking an equally young girl devil out on a date. Even though, back in the early sixties, everything was much simpler in that ALL young women were still trained and brought up to be housewives and ALL young men inherently assumed their innate protector/provider responsibilities. Therefore, there was no confusion when it came to courting and marriage. It is overtly obvious from the very beginning of this video, (the young man is at work and the young woman is in the home) but so natural that it is also obvious that this is normal everyday expected behaviour.

These days, everything is completely out of order, in that we have deviated from our natural roles, at least have the common folk. The rich white devils however, still retain the level of civility and proper male/female character traits evidenced by the devils in this video. Their women still WANT to be housewives. They still see the importance of staying at home to rear the children and keep house. With alacrity, they allow their husbands to be MEN and go out and make a living to provide for and protect his family which is his NATURE.

The young devil man instinctively cared for and protected the young woman, who in this video was not even his wife, nor even a girlfriend. She was just a member of the female gender and he was a male. They both submitted to the natures in which they were made and these small gestures which came naturally and effortlessly, were so impressive and so unheard of nowadays, that it took me awhile to process what I had witnessed. But it makes so much sense that I feel foolish even having to explain. And this is the NATURAL BEHAVIOUR of men and women, but the ONLY place you will witness this type of behaviour among Black people is within The Nation of Islam.

Believe me when I tell you, Sisters, letting a Brother open doors for you takes some getting used to. We have been so conditioned to being “independent” and trying to be men (competing with them) that we don’t know how to act like the Queens that we are. We foolishly think, “I can open my own door! I don’t need anybody to open a door for me! pfffff!” And we throw open the door and get in the car, leaving the Brother standing there feeling useless.

Sisters, when a Brother is willing to be chivalrous and treat you with respect and honor, LET HIM! You deserve it. And they enjoy it! They like when you show appreciation for their courtesy. It makes them feel strong and powerful and men love to feel strong and powerful. 😉 That’s just how they are. We should relish our little power to make them feel powerful. They are KINGS and we are QUEENS. We each have our roles to fulfill. You wouldn’t see Queen Elizabeth opening her own door. WE HAVE TO LET OUR MEN BE MEN, Sisters. We were CREATED TO SUBMIT to them so they can protect us properly. It is our nature. They were created physically AND MENTALLY superior to us for a reason.

If your husband does not do these things for you, Sister, shower him with affection and tell him how strong and thoughtful it would be for him to do that type of thing for you. We must raise our standards. And the Brothers will respond accordingly. That is, if they want us. 😉 We will live much happier lives and much more peaceful lives when we accept this fact and be ourselves.

But the mentally dead walk around blind, deaf and dumb like savages, in jeans, t-shirts, tennis shoes and baseball caps; Black women in tight-fitting, revealing dresses above their knees with bleached blonde hair, trying to be what they think civilized white people look like from what they see on T.V. and in magazines. You will not find civilized, cultured, high-society members of the upper class on T.V., movies, magazines or anywhere in the entertainment industry, not even in politics. Members of the upper class finance entertainers and politicians, in order to enrich their own coffers. While the blind, deaf and dumb pay their hard-earned money to be entertained and ignorantly think they have a voice in politics by voting.

Cultured people are usually MUCH wealthier than people in the entertainment industry and civil service. Which is why money and fame does not equal cultured. Many people are rich and uncivilized and it is possible to be poor and cultured, however, neither condition lasts for very long. How many once-successful entertainers have died dirt poor?

Historically, cultured has ensured money and success. However, in this day and time that we are living, we are witnessing the END of the devil’s (Caucasian) rule and he is rapidly losing both his money and his wealth, also his prestige among the nations of the earth.

It is now time for the Black Nation to regain our position as the rulers of the Earth with the so-called American Negroes on top. You, Beloved Black Sisters and Brothers, have every opportunity to attain success and wealth with knowledge of your self and kind and by being yourself (A Righteous Muslim). Your inherent natural aggregate constitution guarantees success. However, if one has no knowledge of self, we cannot possibly be ourselves! So we take little or no care in our appearance and may go out in the public looking other-than-ourselves, usually like a slob, evidencing to the world, our sloppy thoughts. Consequently, our sloppy thoughts will determine our words and actions. Our appearance, thoughts, words and actions are what make up who we are. If all of these are sloppy, what will we attract? :/ Equally sloppy people and sloppy surroundings.

We must change our thinking in order to improve our social standing. I’ve heard some people say that they changed their appearance before changing their thoughts. But I don’t buy that because something had to change in their thinking to make them want to change their appearance. The brain is the boss. A change in your thinking will result in a change in every aspect of life. Your Actions Will Change. You will start questioning the reason and purpose for everything you do and also the way that things that affect you. Even a slight change in thinking, (conviction will come later) results in viewing yourself with greater respect and higher regard.

Naturally, your new self-perception will be reflected in the way you represent yourself to the world – as someone worthy of respect and admiration. You will smoothly begin to take an increased interest in your appearance as well as your health, thus increasing your appeal to the people around you.

Your appeal will force a change in the language in which you choose to address your admirers who have higher expectations from someone who appears so refined. Foul, vile language does not become civilized people. You will never hear such filth from highly cultured and refined individuals. Profane language is a characteristic of a base, savage, illiterate person. The way we communicate our thoughts to the world through language (word choice) is a clear indication of our level of intelligence. We must demonstrate the greatest degree of intelligence at all times.

The acquisition of knowledge is paramount for the Black Nation. We Must Never Stop Learning. When we have exhausted the knowledge and wisdom of the planet Earth, then we can feel justified in ceasing. But by then we will be at least 900 years old, satiated with the knowledge of everything that is to come and not particularly inclined to see it come to pass.

The Blackman of America is a direct descendant of, and thus, the CREATOR of the Universe. He does not know this and of course, his slave-master will never tell him. He (the slave-master) was the person who killed him of this knowledge! As such, the Blackman has been forced to feign increased ignorance for a number of reasons during his entire stay in this Western Hemisphere, primarily to detract the devil’s attention from him and to minimize his responsibility to do the devil’s service.

This mentality was and is reinforced in the school system where the young Black God’s lack of interest in white supremacist curriculum has been deliberately misdiagnosed as stupidity. So now, he has convinced his own self that he is stupid. I have, on several occasions, witnessed adult Black men announce repeatedly, and with much conviction, that they were “stupid.” To my gnathonic ears, coupled with my unwavering love for and devotion to the Blackman, it was as if someone had scratched a chalkboard. The heavens may almost be rent thereat, and the earth cleave asunder, and the mountains fall down in pieces, that The God of The Universe is now calling himself “stupid.” 😥

We MUST change our way of thinking if we ever expect to be accepted by the civilized nations of the universe.

I desperately yearn for this type of cultured, refined and civilized human interaction to the point where I almost won’t venture out into the public for the surety of disappointment. I don’t eat out as a rule. But I could probably be persuaded to dine at a restaurant such as the one staged in this video, as long as the poison, filthy swine is not on the menu and it is Black owned.

If I may add, the young man should have asked the girl’s father if it was okay for him to take her out and the video should have shown the father’s resultant interrogation of the young man concerning his intentions for his daughter.

I love how the woman doesn’t say anything during the ordering process. The man handles EVERYTHING and all we have to do is sit there and look pretty. Allah is so Merciful; Infinitely WISE.

FIRST, LOVE YOURSELF

Chapter 19

First Love Yourself

One of the greatest handicaps among the so-called Negroes is that there is no love for self, nor love for his or her own kind. This not having love for self is the root cause of hate (dislike), disunity, disagreement, quarreling, betraying, stool pigeons and fighting and killing one another. How can you be loved, if you have not love for self? And your own nation and dislike being a member of your own, then what nation will trust your love and membership.

You say of yourself, “I love everybody.” This cannot be true. Love for self comes first. The Bible, the book that you claim to believe says, “Love the brotherhood” (I Peter 2:17). “Love one another” (John 15:17). Love of self comes first. The one who loves everybody is the one who does not love anyone. This is the false teaching of the Christians for the Christians war against Christians. They have the Bible so twisted by adding in and taking out of the truth that it takes only God or one whom God has given the knowledge of the Book to understand it.

The Bible puts more stress upon the “love for the thy neighbor” than the “love for the brother.” When asked “Who is my neighbor?” The answer was contrary and incorrect. Jesus’ answer was that of two men who were on a journey. They were not from the same place. One was from Jerusalem, the other one was a Samaritan. The Samaritan came to where the man from Jerusalem lay wounded by the robbers who had stripped him of his possessions. The Samaritan showed sympathy for the fellow traveler. (He was not a neighbor in the sense of the word. A neighbor can be an enemy. ) Many enemies live in the same neighborhood of a good neighbor. But, the answer that Jesus gave was a futile one which could be classified as a parable of the so-called Negroes and their slave-masters.

The so-called Negroes fell into the hands of the slave-masters, who have robbed, spoiled, wounded and killed them. The Good Samaritan here would be the Mahdi (Allah) – God in Person, as He is often referred to by the Christians as the “the second coming of Jesus, or the Son of Man to judge man.” This one will befriend the poor (the so-called Negroes) and heal their wounds by pouring into their heads knowledge of self and others and free them of the yoke of slavery and kill the slave- masters, as Jehovah did in the case of Pharaoh and his people to free Israel from bondage and the false religion and gods of Pharaoh.

There are many other proofs in the Bible which agree with the above answer.

Love yourself and your kind. Let us refrain from doing evil to each other, and let us love each other as brothers, as we are the same flesh and blood. In this way, you and I will not have any trouble in uniting. It is a fool who does not love himself and his people. Your black skin is the best, and never try changing its color. Stay away from intermixing with your slave-master’s children. Love yourself and your kind.

PROPER FOODS, SPIRITUALLY AND PHYSICALLY

CHAPTER SIX

PROPER FOODS, SPIRITUALLY

AND PHYSICALLY

Eat to live and not to die. The Bible teaches us that God, in the end of the world when He comes, will prolong the people’s lives because they have been eating the proper foods, both spiritually and physically. We have to accept it-that is, if we love life and not death.

LIVING LESS than 100 years is a very short life. People in this world admire one who lives to see 90 years (which is a very short life), because of the way they live, eat and drink the wrong foods and drinks. They are surprised to see a person live over 70 years.

Now they want drugs to give you life.  Drugs cannot prolong our lives if we are going to eat and drink the wrong food and drink; and drink polluted water. The very water we drink is polluted from filth. We make the water filthy with our own refuse and then turn around calling ourselves cleaning the water to make it fit to drink.

THIS IS NOT because the government is too poor to try and see that its citizens have pure water to drink. It is not because the government is too poor that we have to eat the poor and poison foods. They deliberately cause this drink and food to be impure. Just read what they say about the impure water that we drink out of Lake Michigan and other rivers.

The government permits the deliberate making of alcoholic drinks which it knows are not good for a person who has no limitation on how much of it he drinks. And it deliberately turns out millions and millions of dollars worth of hogs to put on the market, knowing that the hog is poison and was not made for human consumption. They do that to oppose the right foods – the pure foods – that God has given them in abundance.

ANYTIME WE break the law of nature, we are doing harm to ourselves.

The government condemns smoking, but still permits tobacco to be sold to the public. All of this is due to commercializing on that which produces a short life.

Part of the population of the country is being addicted to drugs for the purpose of experimenting with drugs, instead of lengthening the life by what we eat and drink.

If we know the best food and the best drink, we should try to get them for ourselves and not charge the government with our own foolish acts, just because the government will not stop the sale of such detrimental food and drink.

THE GOVERNMENT could not sell one drop of whiskey unless we buy it. The foolish buyer is the one to be charged.

We have fire, but if we do not use it rightly, it is because of our own foolishness. If you know better, then do better for self.

CHAPTER NINE

THE BENEFITS OF EATING ONCE A DAY

Many of my followers write and tell me of the benefit they are receiving from eating one meal a day or one meal every other day. This will produce good results and lengthen our lives. But children should not be forced to fast or to eat once a day or once every other day.

Children and babies should eat at least twice a day. If you are now eating three meals a day and you would like to eat one meal every other day, you should not – all of a sudden – change from three meals a day, every day, to one meal every other day.

FIRST DROP to two meals a day, then one meal a day, and then one meal every other day. It is better to do it this way so that you will not make yourself sick. And if you eat every other day, do not begin your meal with heavy food.

THE CENTRAL AVENUE JAZZ FESTIVAL AND ITS AFTERMATH

بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم

CENTRAL AVE

As-Salaamu ‘Alaikum Dearly Beloved Sisters (and Brothers 😉 )

I was so excited about this year’s Central Avenue Jazz Festival that I could hardly go to sleep the night before. All week I was preparing, getting my soup ready, bread baked, I even planned to sell my Honey Whole-Wheat Chocolate Chip Cookies. The one thing I DIDN’T plan to sell, which Allah, Master Fard Muhammad, to Whom Praises are due forever, told me twice to make sure I didn’t forget, were the Messenger’s (Peace Be Upon Him) DVDs and CDs.

The day before, I bought a cute little bag to hold my cookies, and made a cute sign which I decorated with glitter. Patrice and Ndugu (the band I wanted to see) weren’t scheduled to perform until 4:10 or 4:30, I couldn’t and still don’t remember exactly, but festival shows are never on schedule, so I knew as long as I got there a little after four I would get there around the same time they came on. The important thing was staying on the path of Allah – Al Sirataal Mustaqeem – and it wouldn’t matter what time I got there, I would still be right on time.

I got up early to make my cookies and I don’t know what the problem was, but I didn’t get one to come out right. I ended up eating them and giving some to my neighbor and son. That was an omen right there of what was to come.

I left around 3:30, with my sign and my goodies and caught the bus to Central. I don’t know what I was thinking. I was probably too excited to think. I walk to Central all the time to go to the Post Office. But in my enthusiasm, I stood and waited for the bus. It only costs me a quarter, but still. I could have used that quarter to go somewhere else.

Anyway, we get to Central and the bus comes almost immediately. The Bus Driver was not very friendly, but I asked him what was the best stop to get off to go to the Jazz Festival since I knew the street would be blocked off. He said something I can’t remember because it didn’t help.

So, on the bus, I gave the Black People cards, and two wheelchairs got on the bus. It was crowded and I had my “ghetto cart” and my huge sign, but we made it do what it do. I talked to a Brother and a Sister, whom I thought were together, about the Teachings and we all got off at Vernon before the bus made its detour.

The Brother walked next to me and continued talking, but the Sister lagged behind. I asked the Brother and found out that they weren’t together and the Brother started asking personal questions, so I quickly told him if he had any questions about the teachings to give me a call and waited for the Sister while he continued on.

The Sister, I found out was an “undercover” Muslim and she expressed an interest in The Messenger’s (PBUH) DVDs. That was when I realized I had left them right by the front door. I felt like such a donkey for not taking Our Saviour seriously. We talked for quite a while, exchanged numbers and then parted ways.

I continued on to the Festival, walking in the middle of the street, trying to be as conspicuous as possible and sure enough, it wasn’t long before a Brother on the sidewalk flagged me down. We met half-way and he was inquiring about everything. I showed him the soup and the bread, but he wasn’t ready for that yet. Then he asked about the DVDs and yet again I felt like Shrek’s best friend.

I detest making excuses, but I didn’t want to remove the notice of the DVDs from my sign because I figured they could take my number and call me later, In sha Allah. So, I gave him a card and continued down the Avenue.

I passed an art vendor who had some paintings of some Jazz musicians on display, but didn’t stop. As I neared the stage, I didn’t hear any music, so I turned back around to go take a closer look at the art. She had an amazing painting of Charlie “Yardbird” Parker, affectionately known as “Bird.” And another bearing a resemblance to Miles, but not really. She was a young woman, interested in but not too knowledgeable about Jazz as of yet, so I told her whom her paintings immortalized and gave her a card. Then a Sister who lives around the corner from me walked up and co-signed on my blog. I felt like a BOSS. 😉

When I started heading toward the stage, I couldn’t decide which side I wanted to enter, so as always, I waited until I got a Word from Allah and He Told me to cross the street to the opposite side.

****

So, I crossed and I begin to hear some music, but I’m not thinking it’s Patrice so when some Sisters started eyeing my sign, I stopped to talk and give them cards and whatnot. I am really not paying any attention to the music as I walk toward the front of the stage, but when I reach it, I notice Patrice is at the piano and my heartbeat quickens. I think it’s so cool that they didn’t bother with an introduction. They just started playing. That show their love for the music right there. No egos.

I’m right in the very front of the stage on the right and she’s facing my direction. I’m so happy I obeyed Allah. Then, it occurred to me to see who was on the drums. I peeked around to the other side of the stage and I see a thin man who bore no resemblance to Ndugu Chancler. He noticed me peeking and started acting silly; putting on a show, and I mouthed, “You are not Ndugu Chancler,” like he was trying to fool us or something. I thought Ndugu couldn’t make it and he was a stand-in. But when he looked completely dejected at my lack of restraint masquerading as a joke, I knew I had put my foot in my mouth. I looked closer but still was sure it was someone else. I mean Ndugu Chancler was chubby, with a butterball body and a doughboy face. This man was long and lean! But as I continued to very openly stare, I realized, he had just lost a lot of weight and started to show a few signs of age.

NDUGU

Then this devil came and walked right in front of me. So, I was like “Hell, I’m her mother. If she can go in front of me, I can go up to the stage!” So, I left my ghetto cart, but took my sign right up to where Patrice was and took her picture and some video of her and Ndugu close up.

PATRICE

My assertiveness prompted others to do the same, and soon everybody who wanted a close up picture who was intrepid enough to come up and take one, got one.

When I realized Patrice was playing a solo, I thought that would be video gold. So, I went up to get a close shot and as soon as I got there, she wrapped. So, I stood right there and waited for the next one. But as soon as she got to her solo, my cameraphone suddenly stopped and said something like “Memory full.”  I thought, “Figures.” And went back to the curb, pun intended :/ .

Then I tried to video tape some more and my camera started working again, so I went closer to the stage so when Patrice’s solo came again, I would be ready. But as soon as she started her solo, my cameraphone turned off again! I thought, “This can’t be happening.” But it was, so I just watched. She is absolutely amazing.

I couldn’t believe it when I was talking to this Brother later and he said, he wanted her to do her R&B stuff! I was incredulous. I love her R&B music too, but Jazz displays her true skills of incredible musicianship and virtuosity. You can’t get that ANYWHERE ELSE BUT AT A JAZZ FESTIVAL. I felt so HONORED just to witness it!

So, then I asked a Brother near me, who was on the saxophone. He didn’t know. He (the saxophonist) looked like a Mexican/Hispanic but I didn’t want to believe that, so I thought maybe he’s just one of those high yellow Brothers. But after listening to him play, I knew he wasn’t. I can just tell. Black musicians make me feel their music all through my body. It just permeates through my skin to my bones. Other musicians feel like it’s lacking something. In France, they call it je ne sais quoi. We call it SOUL. And he didn’t have it.

He was Justo Almario, and I deliberately ignored him. It’s easy to get a point across tacitly. No one wants to say it, but I will. There is nothing wrong with loving yourself enough to ONLY want to be with people who look like you. Nobody else IN THE WORLD feels like they have to have people of other races in everything they do, but the American so-called Negroes.

Mexicans have all-Mexican stuff. Devils have all-devil stuff. Chinese and Korean people have all Chinese stuff and all-Korean people stuff. They have TOWNS right here in America, where there are nothing but Chinese people; Korean people. AND THEY ARE SELF-SUFFICIENT. We don’t have one square foot in this whole country that we can say is ours, as a group of people. It is a shame.

But I digress, the bass player was Reggie Hamilton. I had heard of him but never saw him play. He was pretty good. I couldn’t remember his name though after they said it twice.

So, I’m standing on the side and Patrice stands up to the mic and the paparazzi is going crazy. She said something like, “You know a lot of Jazz Standards actually come from musicals. This next number we’re going to play is from a musical – “My One And Only Love.”

I was floored. That is my favorite JAZZ love song of all time and I tried to stay put but I couldn’t hold back the tears. So, I walked over to an empty spot on the wall and turned my camera on again, just to get the audio. I thought about covering up the lens but I thought it would be cool to get some random shots. I was not paying ANY attention to what I was filming and had no idea I was taping this couple who looked like they were in love.

So, when I regained my composure, I walked back to where I could see the stage and when I sensed Sister Patrice’s solo coming up I ventured toward the stage. But as soon as I got near the piano, my camera abruptly turned off. By now, I had resigned myself to the fact that she and Allah were in cahoots to deter me from capturing any footage of her marvelous abilities. So, I just stood and watched in awe, filled with emotion at her choice and then rendition of my favorite song. I was so melancholy, I barely noticed when the song ended.

But, I was jolted out of my reverie, by the joyous opening of “Cantaloupe Island,” which always makes me happy. I need to learn how to play that. It always lifts my spirits and it is so impressive watching and listening to the pianist who can play such a complicated piece. It’s comparable to that song Schroeder from Charlie Brown plays on his tiny piano for me. And the next thing I know, I’m happy and smiling again. A crowd of dancers started to form in front of the stage so I moved back to my spot by the curb and took out my guiro. I felt like that was the instrument Patrice wanted me to play. So, even though I wanted to play my maracas, I played the guiro. After a while, I tried my tambourine, but it didn’t mix well. Then I tried the maracas and they didn’t either. So, the guiro it was. It was nice to practice even though nobody could hear it but me. They saw me. 😉

I thought it would be nice to give Sister Patrice a card, so after years of experience going to live shows, I knew that they would be coming out of the back and since I had to go that way anyway, I went that way. I passed a Brother who looked so familiar, I asked him from where did I know him. He didn’t know but I kept thinking, I didn’t want to miss Patrice, but Master Fard Muhammad, to Whom Praises are due forever, told me to keep talking. So I did as long as I could. And when I started walking again, he followed me.

We reached the back of the stage and I stopped to regroup and we were talking for a while. Then I see a swarm of people and cameras gather around a very short nucleus. I knew it had to be Sister Patrice, so I got out a card and went and handed it to her. She was very gracious and I got to tell her how much I enjoyed her performance and her music and that she is an inspiration to me. She said, “Thank-you” and looked very sincere and smiled genuinely. I turned and went back to my stuff and the Brother.

Sister and her entourage passed right by us, and she was so forbearing with all of the people who knew her from back in the day. It was very nice for them. I know they are proud of her success. I wanted to take a picture with her, but knew that my camera was trippin’. So, I didn’t even ask. And she continued greeting her obsequious sycophants. All while this is taking place right in front of me, I thought about my next door neighbor, who told me that Patrice Rushen used to like her husband.

After she told me this, I looked up her videos and “Forget Me Nots” bears witness to what my neighbor told me. So Allah, to Whom Praises are due forever, told me to “Ask her.” I did NOT want to ask her. So, I’m standing there with lead in my shoes and Allah Tells me again. And I still did not want to ask her such a personal question that might bring up old memories and pain that I did NOT want to be the one to dredge up for her.

But I MUST OBEY MY MASTER.

So, very trepidatiously, I tapped her on her shoulder and said, “Sister, do you know a Brother, named Abdul?” Her face lit up. She said, “Abdul??!! “YES!!”

I felt terrible but didn’t know what else to say, so I just said, “Oh, Okay,” smiled and just walked off.

I DIDN’T KNOW WHAT ELSE TO SAY and I don’t do awkward well.

THEN I HAD TO GO BE BY MYSELF FOR A MINUTE BECAUSE THE WHOLE SITUATION JUST HIT TOO CLOSE TO HOME.

She was obviously in love with this Brother and had dreamed of him leaving his wife for her, which never happened. I sent her this message on Facebook yesterday.

“In the Name of Allah

As-Salaamu ‘Alaikum Sister Patrice,

I pray Allah, these words reach you in the Best of Health and Happiness and Enjoying Abundant Blessings From Allah, Master Fard Muhammad, to Whom Praises are due forever. I am thankful and happy that I am the same. Al Hamdulillah!

Dear Sister, I am the Muslim Sister who approached you after that magnificent performance you and Brother Ndugu Blessed us with yesterday. Please apologize to him for me for accusing him of not being himself. I felt like such an idiot after I realized he had just lost weight and gotten a little older since the last time I saw him. I hope he is just being more health conscious.

In any case Sister, if you are wondering how I know about Abdul, it’s because I live next door to the woman who married him.

Sister, I’m so sorry to inform you that He passed away in 2009.

If it’s any consolation, she’s been mentally ill since the eighties.

We used to be good friends. They were homeless for very many years and when I met her, in 2010, she was still homeless. I let her move in with me and my nine-year old son but she didn’t want to look for her own place. So, I made living conditions difficult for her and she moved out.

But, when the apartment next door became available, I told her about it so I am the reason why she is not still homeless, Sister. But then she started inviting all sorts of strange men over and spending the night with them. I tried to tell her that that was not respectful behaviour and then she really started acting crazy. She hates me now and is a miserable, lonely, psychopathic hermit. I really hope you get some satisfaction from that, Sister.

The bottom line is we’re all Sisters and even though she hates me, I love both of you. Sometimes, love can be such a complicated and sensitive issue. But the truth is, all of our histories were written 15,000 years ago, Sister. We are just living out what has already been predicted. The Best Thing We Can Do Is Submit To Allah’s (God’s) Will and Plan For Our Lives.

He Is The Best Planner And He Loves Us. The ONLY Way To Find True Peace and Happiness in Life Is Just To Submit To What Was Already Written. I Believe You Have Done That, My Dear Beloved Sister And I Pray Allah Continues To Bless You With Peace of Mind and Contentment.”

And I sent a video of my neighbor acting crazy.

I met up with the Brother again at the bus stop. He was MUCH older than I am. He said he graduated from Locke in 1969 and that he knew Patrice and Ndugu. Anyway, we talked and he told me that Sly Stone used to be a D.J. on some radio station up North and that his was the first integrated group.

I started telling him how he (Sly) was a SELLOUT. The Brother disputed with me saying he could make more money that way. I told him that that is the definition of a SELLOUT. I’m sorry, but that’s probably why Sly is in the condition he’s in now. Living in a trailer parked somewhere in Leimert.

Was it worth it, Sly?

So, when I got home, I was pretty much in shock. And my camera wouldn’t play any of the videos and wouldn’t let me see any of the pictures. I had to delete all of my picture and all but two videos just to get it to work! The two above, I just happened to send to Facebook right after I took them.

Sometimes, Allah won’t let me look at footage I have taken. That’s what happened the last time I videotaped my Honey-Stick. Somebody stole my camera before I had a chance to view the footage. My life…

Later on that night, I remembered something I had seen in this documentary about Charlie Parker. After he found out his daughter had died, he kept sending telegrams to his wife because he was in L.A., I think. Anyway, I thought it would be cool and piquant to send my Honey-Stick a telegram too. So, I Googled it and at first all I could find were singing telegrams and I didn’t want that. But eventually, I found a reputable telegram service. I wrote down the name and put it on the “back-burner.”

So, yesterday (Sunday, the Jazz Fest was Saturday. Now, it is Monday night/Tuesday morning) I’m still buggin’ out over everything that happened at the Jazz Festival and I’m starting to just accept that our lives parallel somewhat. So, I decide to go ahead and watch “Forget Me Nots” again. It has been a few years since I’ve seen it, I guess. And I wanted to watch it immediately after the Jazz Fest, but I just couldn’t bring myself to do it. You see how long it’s taken for me to write this blog!

finally, I sat down to watch it and the first thing I see is someone in a bellhop styled uniform ringing a doorbell with a telegram in her hand. I freaked out. This type of stuff happens almost every day to some degree in my life, but I’m still not used to it. That’s why everybody is scared of me. I gave up a long time ago trying to be normal though. Take me or leave me.

As I write this, “My One And Only Love” is playing on my Internet Radio station. It shocks me a little, but what can I do? But submit?

I think about my Honey-Stick and how he is in love with his enemy. But I know I will NEVER love anyone else. No matter what. I always thought about it from the perspective of if I gave up and married one of these men who would love to have me as their wife. I would always be wondering, “What if he changes his mind???” Marriage is sacred and when I get married, I’m going to do it the way Allah ordained (for life and for fidelity). So, marrying someone else is out of the question. I can’t marry anybody but him. And I had/have no problem with the possibility of loving him unrequitedly until I die.

But, after bearing witness to Sister Patrice’s life, I started seriously thinking about what if he dies? I’ve seen enough people die to know that life goes on regardless. Then and only then will I even contemplate marrying someone else. Our Nation will live forever, regardless. Just like Abdul, my Honey-Stick knows how I feel. And I’m always going to feel this way, but our situation is different in that his life is at stake.

So, before I can even express my love, I have to get him out of the line of fire and I mean REAL FIRE. America is going to be burned up and all I can do is show and prove. It’s up to Allah for him to accept it. And I know time is running out. I see the signs. If I go places and see more inter-racial couples than Black couples, I know it’s the end. And to be Truthful, I’m ready.

My daughter has rejected Islam. My son has rejected Islam and my one and only love is rejecting Islam. I’m going to continue to give him the Teachings as long as Allah Gives him time since I can’t marry any one else.  But it’s not easy.
