Immaculate Cleaning

As-Salaamu ‘Alaikum Beloved and Beautiful Sisters!

Keeping our house immaculately clean is an all-day task. Even if you are not actively cleaning, you should always be on the look-out for “clean-ups.” There may be a piece of lint on the carpet. There may be a piece of mail you neglected to file or throw away. One of your loving family members may have left a dish on the counter or neglected to put his or her shoes in the shoe rack by the front door. If you are always on the look-out, you will notice and thus pick up and throw away or put away any misplaced items instead of overlooking them.

You may have noticed some dust has accumulated between dustings. It is very easy to just take a little time to go and get your feather duster and dust that area. Your eyes should always be scanning your house for “clean-ups,” especially if you have a family. You have to clean up after them also.

It is good to train your children to clean-up after themselves. Do not let them take off a jacket without immediately hanging it up or take off their shoes without putting them in the shoe rack by the front door. Let me say here that we should always remove our shoes when entering the home. Shoes are made for walking outside. We don’t want to track dirt and debris from outside into our immaculate homes. This makes for more cleaning which can be avoided simply by removing our shoes.

You should be able to walk around in your stocking feet without the bottoms getting dirty. Floors are important in the general appearance of your home as they account for 25 per cent of a room. Keep them clean. Have your carpets cleaned every three months and sweep and mop daily.

Make your children wash their dishes and put them away immediately after use. Your husband, as the breadwinner and provider for the family can do what he wants. You should not nag him about anything he does around HIS house. He married you to keep his house. Do not nag him. He has a lot on his mind. You are there to EASE his mind not nag him about anything he does. Be grateful he provides for you and show him by putting his dishes away for him and hanging up his coat. And do not even bring it up. He sees what you do and will feel good about buying you diamond earrings and roses, when it pleases him.

Your children are a different story. You must instill the necessity of cleanliness in them. You should not have to tell them to clean up their room. Or set up a time for them to clean up. If you teach them to put EVERYTHING away, immediately after they have used it, there will be no need to make them put everything away all at one time because it will not have accumulated to that point. Of course, you will clean up after them, but you should also make them know the importance and get them into the habit of cleaning up after themselves all the time.

You are the only person ultimately responsible for keeping your house clean. Your family may help you, but the responsibility is all yours. Do not be too proud to get on your hands and knees. That is the difference between clean and immaculate. No one will see anything but the results of your hard work. And, your family will love you more when they see you going to such lengths to keep them in the BEST.

Sisters, Allah (God) has Blessed us with shelter. Having been homeless, I can truly say, from experience, how wonderful it is to have a roof over your head every night. Let Us Show And Prove To Our Saviour, Master Fard Muhammad, To Whom Praise Is Due Forever, That We Are Truly Grateful For His Blessing Us With Shelter And KEEP OUR HOMES IMMACULATELY CLEAN.

How To Hem

Bismillahi Rahmani Rahim

As-Salaamu ‘Alaikum Beautiful and Beloved Seamstresses! 🙂

As Homemakers, we are primarily the ones responsible for maintaining our family’s clothes – whether we are laundering, ironing or mending. And, we should really be making our family’s clothes!

I cannot overemphasize the importance of investing in a sewing machine. They are very affordable and the value you will get out of them is immeasurable. You can repair and hem quickly and efficiently, making your life much easier and giving you more time for your other tasks.

In the video above, she demonstrates almost exactly the way I hem Hakim’s pants (which is why I didn’t make my own video 😉 I might the next time I buy him some pants. In sha Allah). The only difference is that because Hakim is still growing, I don’t cut the pants. I kind of put two hems in them. That way, as he grows, I can just let one hem out and he can still wear the pants.

Just iron the pants where she made the second markings instead of cutting them. And then sew the hem the way she does. Then just fold them up to the first markings and sew again. The hem will be kind of thick, but it’s not really noticeable. And you will get a few more months of wear out of them, depending on how quickly your child grows.

This is wisdom, Sisters, because usually our children will outgrow their pants before they outwear them.

(If you have to put in a hem before you get a sewing machine, you can probably find a tutorial on YouTube on how to put in a hem by hand.)

Homemade Butter!

As-Salaamu ‘Alaikum Beloved Sisters!

My son, Hakim, finally convinced me to allow him to do a science experiment with some heavy whipping cream I had in the fridge. I wanted to make ice cream, but he wanted to make butter.

I finally acquiesced, and I’m beginning to think that he may have stumbled upon one of the best ideas he’s ever had. (And he’s had some good ones.)

I let him do all the work. The first time, he only used 4 oz. of cream; and it seemed like I got about 4 oz. (one stick) worth of butter!

The next time (the time of the butter shown in the picture), he used two cups. It yielded about a cup of buttermilk. So, if you subtract that from the starting amount, that means he made about a cup (two sticks) of butter. But it seems like much more because you don’t need to use as much as you would store manufactured butter.

In short, 8 oz. of cream will yield 8 oz. or two STICKS of Butter.

I tasted some of my leftover store bought butter and some of his homemade butter and the difference was astonishing! His butter had twice as much flavor and was creamier and smoother.
Suffice it to say, we will be making our own butter from now on….

And it is so easy to make! All you have to do is pour some Heavy Whipping Cream into a glass jar with a lid and shake it up. That’s it!

The length of time depends on how much cream you use. But it didn’t take nearly as long as I had remembered. (I did it once when I was little). First, the cream will get really thick and if you want to make whip cream, you can just sweeten it and eat it like that. But to make butter, you have to keep shaking it and eventually the liquid will separate from the solid and you will be left with fresh, homemade butter!!! Also, if you don’t want to do so much shaking, you can let it sit for about 15-20 minutes after it gets to the whipped cream state and then come back and shake it up. It will turn into butter right away.

**UPDATE**

Sisters, yesterday I used the butter in my cooking and I melted it before I used it…. Why was it creamy yellow and milky? It was nothing like the butter I used to buy from the store! The butter I used to buy from the store used to separate into two liquids when I melted it. THEY ADD WATER TO STORE-BOUGHT BUTTER!! I feel like such a fool for buying that crap all of my life. And it is ridiculously easy to just make your own. But if you knew better you do better….

As-Salaamu ‘Alaikum Beautiful and Fearless Sisters!

The Honorable Elijah Muhammad (May the Peace and the Blessings of Allah Be Upon Him Forever) taught the Blackman that white men have been beating and raping his women for as long as we have been here in his country. And until he learns to defend his woman, live or die, die or live, he will never be respected by the decent and intelligent societies of the earth.

He taught him that the white man comes into his yard and beats his woman and he just stands there with folded arms! This is because the devil put fear in them when they were babies.

But, our Beloved Messenger (May the Peace and the Blessings of Allah Forever Be Upon Him) taught his followers that we have to defend each other no matter what! “We both go down together!”

This Sister was probably the only help this poor Black man had. And I’m sure those other devils ended up beating her up too (after this picture was taken). But she loved him enough to at least try! She could have done nothing and let them kill her husband, but she would have had to live the rest of her life with the knowledge that she just sat back, watched and let it happen.

We have been conditioned to think that we can’t make a difference. We are just one person. But what if the other people in the area helped? FEAR! That is the devil’s greatest weapon. The Honorable Elijah Muhammad (Peace and Blessings of Allah forever be upon him) taught us that upon our submission, Allah will remove all that fear that the devil put in us.

Muslims fear Allah only. He has power over the steel that the devil made his weapons out of. He can make it backfire and shoot the devil in his own face, if it pleases Him. We are not afraid of any police because Allah is the Greatest and we know that our Nation will live forever.

So what if ten million of us die?!?! The remaining thirty million will enjoy Freedom, Justice and Equality. But we cannot continue to be afraid to defend ourselves and let the coward devils intimidate us. We have to unite under the banner of Islam – The Only Solution To The Dire Straits In Which We Are.
